Eddie Murphy proven to be Angel Brown's father

The results of the DNA test are back, and there’s no doubt — Eddie Murphy is the father of 11-week-old Angel Iris Murphy Brown. Test results were received Thursday afternoon, and Melanie Brown‘s rep confirms that Eddie is the dad. A friend of Melanie’s says,

He’s the baby’s father, it’s official. The baby is undoubtedly, 110% his. There was no doubt in people’sminds anyways, least of all hers. It wasn’t a surprise to her. She knewall along.

Melanie has always insisted Eddie is the father; however, Eddie had doubts, saying,

I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test.

Pay up Eddie, and start becoming a man!

- Carrie on

Well this is a huge shock…NOT! I don’t think there was ever any doubt that he was the father. Eddie made this huge thing and put the mother of his child and Angel herself through all this media crap for nothing–simply cuz he didn’t want to step up a be a man. Hopefully now he’ll step up and do what needs to be done for his DAUGHTER. His actions so far have been deplorable to say the least, in my opinion, and he has a heck of a lot to make up for…hopefully he chooses to do that.

- Megan on

I hope this is true and if so, I’m glad that it’s finally over. I also hope that Eddie REALLY steps up and is as much of a father to Angel as he has been for his other children. From what I’ve heard, he has been a great father to them. He now can prove to Angel that he can be for her as well.

Sarah’s note: It’s true, her rep has confirmed.

- Destiny on

I bet he feels stupid…his bluff was called! Let’s hope he owns up and assumes the responsibilities that were his all along. Sad thing is, their daughter will grow up and come across this story and his denial of her. That’s really sad.

- brass on

I hope Eddie takes his responsibilities now

- Aleah on

I’m just glad that this part of the drama is over for Melanie. Now all she has to do is get his butt to court for child support.

It would be my hope that he would step up and be a man for once after all the hell he’s put her through and be there for his daughter. I’m confident though that Melanie would be fine without him if he can’t handle it.

Prove me wrong Eddie!

- Jessica on

I’m so very pleased for Melanie and Little Angel that this is all over and they can get on with their lives.Eddie Murphy does not deserve to have access to Angel after the way he has behaved. All i hope is now that he apologises to Mel and makes up for lost time with Angel.I wonder how she will feel when she is older and sees how her Dad behaved towards her mum when she was pregnant?I had Eddie down as a nice, decent man before this, now i cannot stand him.Good luck to Mel and her lovely little family.

- Lara on

Yeahhh; I am SO happy that she has proven Eddie Murphy wrong! I hope that he takes responsibility now and becomes a father to this little girl. And I think that, just for fun, Melanie needs to just laugh in his face and say, “I told you so.”

- Kelli on

I am so happy that the results got back. Finally a story were that women says the man is the father and he is.I’m so happy for Mel B and Angel.

- CeCe on

You know…any man, including Eddie Murphy, should act like an adult when it comes to paternity. If you slept with the woman and she had a baby, then it is possible it’s yours. If you know she was with more than you, then Yes, request a paternity test. But, for the child’s sake, do you have to be so immature about your actions and statements? I mean, now that it’s determined he is the father, that little girl will grow up and even if he does step up and they end up being close, but she will always be able to look back and read about (or hear people talk) about how ridiculous he was about the whole thing and how he acted like he didn’t want to be the father. That will hurt her. Anyway, I just hate that some men act that way…it’s pitiful…children are blessings.

- Southern girl on

Eddie there is a thing called vasectomy

- Hannah on

I don’t know why Melanie would want the name Murphy there at all. Eddie doesn’t deserve to have his name associated with that little baby.

I just wish there was some way for all of this publicity to be erased so Angel wouldn’t have to some day know her father denied her as his daughter.

- Dizz on

I believed Mel B. was telling the truth. There was never any reason why she had to lie. It’s not like she was hard up for anything. It’s just sad that this had to be dragged out, filled with unnecessary drama, and it’ll be a stigma probably for the rest of Angel’s life.

Eddie put them through hell for a whole lot of nothing. I don’t want to say it but it just seemed like he wanted to be out in the public, and since he was/is dating Tracey Edmonds, he didn’t want to be under any bad lights. Well, he screwed himself over on that one.

But, I hope he does own up to what he said about stepping up and being a father. If he’s about to half-step it, then he should just stick to child support. Mel and Angel will be fine, but I do believe that girl needs her father. I’m just hoping he’ll stand by his word and “do the right thing”.

- FC on

knew it…

sad when the men can’t even admit it..

- Yonni on

I have been a fan of Eddie Murphy since his SNL days. However I have been disapointed with him over this. He seems like a good father to his other children. I hope he steps up for his daughter.

- Shell on

I’ll bet this is a huge relief for Melanie, for it to finally be over. I hope she gets paid Shrek dollars for the horrible year Eddie put her through. He’s a big jerk and she deserves to get a fat child support check and a public apology.

- PSB on

Well I hope Eddie learns if, he doesn’t want anymore kids use protection. Besides Angel there were 2 other kids from 2 other woman that he denied at first, and DNA proved to be his. I knew Angel was his, she looks so much like him, not to mention Melanie brown seemed pretty certain the baby was his.

- raquel on

You know, I think Eddie Murphy is a first-class jerk, but he did state later on (after his initial statement but before Angel was born) that if the child was proven to be his, he would be fully involved both financially and physically. So while I deplore his earlier statements, I think he deserves a chance to prove that he’s better than that. Who knows, at the time of the first statement, he and Melanie could have been involved in a horrible fight and he chose that venue to attack her — immature, inconsiderate and short-sighted, to be sure, but we all make mistakes in anger. He is obligated to take responsibility financially, but he deserves the chance to be a father, and the little girl deserves to have him in her life if he wants to be. I think we are being a little harsh on him, and a little selective about comments he’s made.

- Chiara on

i think he has always been a jerk. he was caught with a transvestite prostitute while still married. I question his respect for women. A first class misogynist!
All the best to Melanie and Angel.

- tigra on

Im so shocked he took the low road on this one! If he was unsure he could have easily, privately requested a DNA test. There was no need for his rude, childish remarks about his childs mother. This is a very sad situation and though he is found to be the father it doesnt guarantee he will be a GOOD father. His actions thus far are questionable.

I hope for nothing but the best for Melanie and her 2 lovely girls.

- morgan on

I always believed her I hope Eddie Murphy steps up & be’s a man.

- Summer on

i still think that if man don’t want to have a kid, he shouldn’t be forced to take care of or pay for baby if baby’s mother decides to procreate without regarding his opinion. so if mel decided to have a baby while eddie didn’t wanted one, she and she alone should take of her daughter. if i were in her place, i would have consider abortion

- ellie on

Ellie Eddie DID decide to procreate the second he CHOSE to have sex w/ her. That’s a chance evey guy takes. Why should Mel have to get an abortion? You know everyone women does not believe in them.I don’t see her acting forced or burdened by having this baby. She has seemed thrilled at having another baby.

I don’t see where she forced him to do anything. Eddie wanted the DNA test so bad & now he’s got it. Honestly the guy has acted like a real jerk. He’s been in this situation twice before, yet he still didn’t learn. He should be more careful who he decides to sleep with.

- Pete on

I think that no matter what, men should support their children. Even if they didn’t want the baby, they should support the kids. Once you have sex, you make that choice to possibaly have a child, even if you use something. So I hope Eddie does what’s right here, and I’m glad that Mel did not have an abortion.

- Aura on

Ellie….How old are you? Your comment was immature. Mel did not force Eddie to have his baby. Obviously, THEY had sex and a baby was conceived. He was just as resposible as she was. What kind of message do you think you are sending younger girls/women? …if the guy bails…have an abortion? SMH!

- Tasha on

Ellie,
If Eddie didn’t want to have another child, he should’ve taken extra precautions. He could’ve had a vasectomy or used protection. Mel didn’t get herself pregnant. Eddie did it.

- Angeline on

Mel stated that she and Eddie decided together to try for a baby and once she got pregnant, he bailed. Considering everything else she has said about Eddie has proven to be true, there’s no reason to believe she “tricked” him into this. Also, if he doesn’t want any more kids, he should not be having unprotected sex–maybe he should get a vasectomy. It’s tough &*%# if he doesn’t want to pay for the kid, he has to. Nobody can force him to act like the father and have contact with Angel, but they can and should make him pay.

- PSB on

Ellie,

Abortion is NOT birth control. Eddie knew what time is was. He already has like seven children. To sleep with a woman in her child-baring years and don’t think that anything can’t happen is like asking to be committed to an asylum.

- Frances K. Alphonse on

i’m 21. yes, they had sex, but only she wanted a kid. so she just shouldn’t expect him to be happy about it. i think immature is her wanting his money

- ellie on

I,for now, used to respect eddie but didnt know he was a real jerk of the jerks. gush! i cant even stand him now.Lost all respect for him.
Anyway,he who laughs last, laughs best.Mel,congrats, you’ve had the last laugh after all the drama he was about. this should tell that tracy what kind of a man this eddie is.A man who hits and run, afraid of responsibilities. he owes mel a big public apology for all that humiliation.she didnt deserve it,let alone the little girl.how will he explain it to the baby in future.Nicole really had a reason for that divorce.

- BETH on

How does she want his money? I’m sure she’s got plenty from the Spice Girls days…. And frankly, she didn’t force Eddie into sleeping with her. He made that choice, and as a result of that choice, they had a child together, whether he likes it or not. He’s just going to have to come up with a solution here that works for everyone in this situation.

- Aura on

You know what, I almost wrote a whole reply to that rediculous comment, but I’ve decided there’s no satisfaction in arguing with a 21 year old who can’t construct a proper sentence.
It’s “doesn’t want” not ‘don’t want’, “was in” not ‘were in’ and “considered an abortion” not “consider abortion”. Plus, I’d get familiar with a capslock key. I’m on a Sidekick, and I can do that much.
First rule of discussion, no one takes you seriously if you don’t speak correctly.

Personally, I’m so relieved that so many of you are as outraged about this as I am. Here he is trying to make her sound like a slut, and she was right the whole time. Even if he wanted to be sure (which I think anyone who is no longer in the relationship has a right to want a paternity test) he could have been discrete and at least given her the benefit of the doubt.

- margaux on

Ellie- As another poster stated, Mel and Eddie decided TOGETHER to try for a baby. Mel even once commented that when she took the pregnancy test and it was postive, Eddie was “over the moon”. Therefore, he obviously wanted a baby, too!

- Annoynomus on

Ellie, I am only 23 years old, and even I can’t believe the things that came out of your mouth! It really doesn’t matter who wanted a child. Neither could have wanted the child, but the point is, she’s here, and as the parents, both Mel and Eddie have a responsibility and an obligation to care for this child. If Eddie doesn’t want to be involved physically (though that certainly wasn’t the case when Angel was CREATED), then he has an obligation to support her financially. The same would hold if it were Eddie caring for the child. It is certainly not the child’s fault she was brought into this world!!

Also, for the record, I’m extremely glad your mother and Mel B. didn’t take the careless approach to life that you obviously do. Considering abortion just because the father chooses not to be involved is a poor statement made about the strength of women. If a woman chooses to have or not to have a baby, it should be based on her own feelings, not the feelings of anyone else. Obviously, Mel was confident she could love and raise another child, even without the father being around. The fact that Eddie Murphy has an obligation to this child simply because he created it has nothing to do with her. It has everything to do with Angel.

- Stephanie on

Sorry about mistakes, but English is not my first language.
And I don’t believe a word of that crap about Eddie wanting a baby. If it were true, DNA test wouldn’t be needed at first place. If I were Angel’s situation I better know that my father didn’t want me to be born and run away than that my mother forced him to pay for having sex with her.
I also know that if I got pregnant and want to have that baby while my boyfriend didn’t, I wouldn’t bear it, beacause I wouldn’t want my child to grow knowing that his/her father dind’t wanted him/her to be born.

- ellie on

Elie, Shame on you u r a weak women. Though the father don’t want the child doesn’t make the chid disposeable or worthless there r many great people in our society that has survied the fact that they’re father didn’t want them and though they may had hurt at first, they are grateful that their mom didn’t consider them junk and value their lives. We r gifts from God and he’s the father of all fathers that value us all so consider this, Mel B could of let a man decide her worth but as a strong woman she chose life. Way to go Mel!

You know Eddie it seems like you are talking from a skewered point of view. He did the crime… he needs to pay the time…Also since he put doubt on the mother in public she had a matter of honour to uphold.

I always believe that a person can be sensible regardless of age but honey you do not show the sense I am sure you have somewhere. I mean where in your psychic ball do you see that he was “forced”. Kinda reminds me of the Steve Bing episode with Liz Hurley.

- Sethe on

So Ellie you would kill a child growing inside of you because the father does not want to take responsibilty for something that he had a hand in creating. It is very sad that you would allow MAN to have that much control over you and such a life changing decision. If you are weak enough to allow a man to dictate to you there would be no way in hell you would be able to deal with the emotional stress of dealing with the fact that you have decided to get rid of a child because a man told you to, but by the sounds of it you have no conscience so if you ever are in that situation you will be just fine now won’t you.

I have not heard Mel speak of any money it is the simple fact of admitting that you are the father and you knew you were the father from the beginning, and just the simple fact that he has put her through all this public humilation she should take him for all he has in court just to be spiteful.

You’re Ridiculous!

- Shanay on

Mel wants Eddie to buy her a 9 million dollar house in Malibu and pay enough support for 10 children. As if she didn’t get pregnant for money at all lol.

A letter from her lawyer to Eddies lawyer let slip that he Eddie wasn’t in on the getting pregnant deal. Not all mothers are “angels” like that baby (no pun intended)
