Eva La Rue, on any given day, can fill a number of different roles: An actress on CSI: Miami, co-host of the Style Networks ‘Modern Girls Guide To Life,’ a spokeswoman for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, a correspondent for Extra…but no role is more near or dear to her heart than that of ‘mom’ to 5-year-old Kaya. Eva recently spoke with ModernMom.com about just what it means to be a ‘modern mom.’
A modern mom is a multitasker extraordinaire who is constantly exhausted and trying to keep a happy face. Most moms feel guilty that they aren’t doing a good enough job, even though they’re probably doing a better job then they think. Being a mom, we all feel a deficit because as a woman the role takes so many forms.
Eva was raised by a single mom and is now a single mom, herself, having divorced actor John Callahan, Kaya’s father. As such, she feels she has a unique appreciation for her mother, the person whom Eva says she admires most.
Now that I have a daughter, my appreciation for my mom has grown a thousand-fold. I now realize everything she gave up and everything she felt when raising me, and all the emotions make sense. I really wonder how she did it alone with two kids and sometimes two jobs…yet she always managed to be there for us.
