Lisa Leslie welcomes daughter Lauren Jolie Lockwood

06/15/2007 at 07:31 PM ET

LA Sparks basketball star Lisa Leslie, 34, may work hard on the court, but her new daughter is already giving her a run for her money just by being born!

Although she was due June 25th and Lisa had her plans in place, Lauren Jolie made her debut over a week early, by middle-of-the-night cesarean section at 4:05 or 4:11 am on Friday, weighing in at 8 lbs, 11 oz, and 20 inches long.

Lisa had previously mentioned that she and husband Michael Lockwood chose the names so that mother and daughter could have matching initials.

I don’t really like the name Lauren but I love Jolie as a middle name. I think I’d give it to my kid as a first name. Jolie Lockwood sounds lovely together.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
