Jennie Garth on losing baby weight and teaching her girls to eat healthy

Beverly Hills 90210 alum Jennie Garth is following in Ian Ziering footsteps as she has signed onto the next season of Dancing with the Stars, which may be part of her effort to get back into shape following her pregnancy with daughter Fiona Eve, 8 months. Jennie and husband Peter Facinelli have two older daughters, Luca Bella, 10 next Friday, and Lola Ray, 4. The actress, 35, tells OK! Magazine she’s still trying to lose the excess weight and discusses what kind of diet her girls are on.

Jennie, who says she’s "100 percent comfortable" with the way she looks, is dropping the weight slowly through a thrice-weekly extreme-cardio class, Pilates two times per week and a healthy diet.

I’ve lost three or four pounds in the last three weeks. It comes off slow. But I’m exercising. I just want to lose maybe five more pounds.
While prepared meals are delivered to her, Jennie still slaves away in the kitchen to make a home-cooked meal for her daughters. The girls have a well-rounded diet, with some sweets every now and then, something Jennie hopes they will maintain.
I cook for my kids every day. Sitting down for dinner is a priority for us. That’s our time together. To lose weight, I can’t eat spaghetti, but I want them to eat spaghetti. I try to teach them the importance of eating healthy. We indulge in sweets whenever we want to, but not excessively. I don’t let them sit around and eat sugar all day, but if they want to have some ice cream or a cupcake, they can. They eat a balanced meal, every meal.
Her easygoing attitude also extends to fashion. Jennie has no time for primping and pampering as a mom.
I’m into comfort over fashion.I have to be able to chase my kids. I have to be able to bend over without things falling out or my butt crack showing.
That includes changing the diapers, which she finds herself doing most of the time.
[Peter] will change a diaper if I need him to, and he loves to play with them. Now, at 8 months, Fiona’s starting to smile and laugh and recognize everyone. That’s when he really starts to attach to them.

I love Jennie, and I appreciate that she’s losing the weight slowly and not going nuts. But, especially with young girls, I wish she wouldn’t say “I can’t eat spaghetti and lose weight.” It’s all about portion control. She can eat a very small amount, at least. By totally avoiding any food or food group, I feel that isn’t putting food/eating in a positive light for a young child. Just have a bit, Jennie, and enjoy. You’re beautiful!

Jennie, you can still eat spaghetti and lose weight. You can have whatever you like, as long as you exercise and maintain portion control. Ice cream or cupcake included. It’s okay. :P

And if she’s really going to be in the next installment of DWTS, I’d hope it’s also to have fun and dance, not just another way to lose weight. Yes, you’re bound to lose weight with the rigorous training, but that’s not what the whole show is about.

That’s just my take. *shrugs*

Wonder what Fiona looks like. Luca looks like the dad, and Lola is more Jennie IMO.
