Cool Parenting Site of the Week

Cool_parenting_siteWe will be starting a new feature called Cool Parenting Site of the Week.  Each week, we will introduce you to a site we like and tell you why.  Featured blogs will include Laid-Off Dad, Mommies with Style, DaddytypesAlpha Mom, Baby Chic 101, Cool Mom Picks, Parent Hacks, Baby Gadget, Dooce  and The Silly Wagon.

In the meantime, we’d like to hear which parenting sites are your favorite. Please post a comment below, telling us which are your favorites and why. Also, if you have a parenting blog, tell us about it and why we’ll love it. Don’t forget to include the URL!

Note:  Please keep it limited to sites related to parenting, children, or family.  Online boutiques are fine- make sure you tell us what’s special about the store such as amazing customer service, carefully edited selection, fun features, etc.  Vendors are encouraged to let us know about their blogs!

Hi
I have a parent-to-parent online guide for parents and expectant parents in York Region, which is near Tornoto. We have articles, news and reference information — as well as great contests!

mumsnet.com is an awesome site for parents. the discussion boards are a great resource from when i was pregnant in those first few weeks after my daughter was born and you have a zillion questions about tiny things. I still visit it every day for information and advice.

Also aboutmybaby.com is a lovely site to create a scrapbook for your child (completely free) – you can add videos, photo albums, news items a guestbook, it’s great.

also http://hughsthedaddy.spaces.live.com/ a blog written by a journalist friend about the trials and tribulations of a first time dad.

I have no kids but most of the sites I read are parenting related. Out of the ones you listed I love Dooce, Mom-101 & Laid Off Dad.

I’d also recomend MetroDad at http://www.metrodad.typepad.com; Kristen at http://motherhooduncensored.typepad.com/motherhood_uncensored/; Chris at http://www.notesfromthetrenches.com/ and the chicks at http://blogs.chron.com/mamadrama/ because they are all parents and they talk about all sorts of topics and they are dam funny and entertaining, which is just how I like my blogs.

http://www.naturalbirthandbabycare.com is my site – it’s about pregnancy, birth, and all kinds of baby stuff. I have sections on baby care and breastfeeding and a big section on babywearing! I also do frequent reviews on books relating to fertility, pregnancy/birth, and of course, babies.

Wonderful information about car seat safety. 1 out of 10 car seats are used improperly, is yours one?
Great information as to why you should leave your child rearfacing long past their 1st bday. Including an album of RF kids past the age of 1. My daughter (Chloe) has her pic in there!

I LOVE http://momsfavoritestuff.com/ She posts all kind so f great reviews that are helpful for new and experienced parents. I’m always finding products that I wouldn’t find otherwise.

I’m a member of MothersClick.com, which is a very cool community for moms online.

What I like most is the ability to ask questions and find answers from real moms who’ve been there, done that. :)

My new favorite parenting site is http://www.mothersclick.com – it allows you to join a group of moms in your area or with similar interests. There’s also a weekly newsletter with interesting articles and features!

This book and this website really helped me when I first became a mom. The book, ‘Little Bundle: Comfort and inspiration for new parents’ doesn’t tell you how to care for your baby, instead it helps you care for yourself! It is very supportive and reassuring. I love it and recommend it to all my friends!
