One would assume that the first poster, who used the name “Anne” knows every and all Native American language! Moreover, she must be familiar with the variations of that each word means to specific cultures whithin the people of every Native American language! Either that, or perhaps Anne wrote a bit quickly and did not think the post through before sending it.
Jessica is both pretty and honorable, and Dakota has a great mother.

Oh please, give Jessica a break and stop nitpicking. Hasn’t she been through enough? If she likes the name and it means something special to her, then that’s wonderful.

I’m happy that she has a healthy baby girl, but puh-lease…she is SOOOO milking it!

Dakota most definitely does not mean “friend” in any Native American language! It means “the allies” and is the name of a Sioux tribe. It’s really not a very culturally appropriate name so it seems a rather misguided way of honoring someone of Native American heritage.
