Update: A son for All My Children's Sydney Penny

Update: Baby’s name is Chasen August, and he weighed in at 7 lbs and is 19 inches long. Sydney spoke to TV Guide, saying,

[Chasen is] the name of my friend’s brother, who is just a lovely young man.But it’s just a name that stuck in my head. I went online and found outit’s an old English name that means ‘huntsman.’ So that’s cool.

He’s a really, reallygood boy. Of course, there’s a lot of adjustment as we figure out whathe wants and what he needs. But he doesn’t cry a lot, only if there’sreally something bothering him. I suppose I’m tired but I’m just havinga good time. It’s been a really lovely time and we’re enjoying it.

I think I’m coming back to work sometime in July. It depends on howthey want to work me back into the canvas. I’m guessing I’ll startairing again in the beginning of August. I’m just enjoying this timewith the baby. It’s the best. I can’t believe it’s happening!

Originally posted June 2nd:All My Children‘s Sydney Penny, 35, (Julia) and herhusband, producer Robert Powers, welcomed their first child, a boy, on Thursday, May 31st.No other details were released.

Sydney and Robert have been married for 12 years.

Congratulations to the new family! I was just watching her on the show yesterday and wondering when she’d have her baby so they can stop hiding her belly behind suitcases and plants!

I just ran into Syndey outside at a restaurant at NYC (and didn’t know who she was until after I left and a friend told me!) She had Chasen with her and was having lunch – we said “oh, what a sweet baby.. how old?” and she said “one week!” He was cute as pie!

Yeah, I love how they have different camera angles and she actually had her arms and purse in front of her on todays episode of AMC. Even though you can see the added baby weight quite clearly. Just wondering if they’re really going to write in her pregnancy…go all the way, that is.

Back to her and her family, congrats to them. Chasen August, huh? I’ve heard of all the variations of “Chase” but never “Chasen”. I like it though! It’s different.
