Jogging Stroller Roundup

Even if you don’t run, a jogging stroller is a great addition to your stroller collection.  They are great for taking long walks or maneuvering in bumpy terrain.  Of course, they are also a must-have if you want to jog with your baby!  We asked our friends at BabyRide.com to tell us about their five top-selling jogging strollers. 

Things you’ll want to consider when shopping for a jogging stroller include:

• larger wheels – the bigger, the more smooth the ride. They typically range in size from 12" to 24" in diameter.
• swivel vs. fixed front wheel – if you plan to use the stroller as a regular stroller, you’ll want a swivel wheel but if you are a serious runner, fixed is a must
• price – generally, the higher the price, the better the stroller
• brake placement – a true jogging stroller has a hand brake, but some have a foot brake.
• shock absorption – most high quality strollers have shocks but most have pretty good suspension already. If you’re running on rough terrain, you’ll probably want to look for this.
• canopy – a larger canopy will protect your child from the sun
• ease of folding – since you probably won’t be using this stroller every day, you’ll probably want to fold it up and store it out of the way
• steel vs. aluminum frames – steel is cheaper but aluminum is lighter weight
• storage and trays – nice to have but not neccessary.  Most likely you’ll need a place to just store your keys but if you plan to use it when you’re not running (like out shopping), good storage and a snack tray can be nice to have.
