Debra Messing's separation anxiety
Debra Messing‘s six-part mini-series The Starter Wife was a labor of love that challenged her in more ways than one. The project found Debra and her son Roman, 3, in Australia for four months and away from her husband, Daniel Zelman, for the first time in all of the 17 years that they have been together. She tells The View on Thursday that being a temporary single parent and apart from her husband for so long was the "hardest thing I’ve ever had to do."
You know, essentially be a single mom for four months in a foreign country, working all the time. Your first priority is your child. He was on the set with me every single day. We saw kangaroos together and wombats.
Since Roman is her top priority, Debra doesn’t have enough hours in the day to get prim and proper like her Starter Wife alter ego Molly Kagan.
I’ve got a toddler. I don’t have the time to go running around.
