Flea on his school and daughter Clara's all-girl band
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, 44, recently spoke to People magazine about his daughter Clara, 18, and his special cause, The Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which he confounded in 2001. Of the school, he says,
I started this place because the public school system dropped the ball on music programs. We can spend billions of dollars on the war in Iraq and we can’t give a kid a clarinet in the seventh grade.
Of his oldest daughter Clara attempts to start a band, Flea laughs,
She was in an all-girl band and then just stopped. They are teenagers and [probably] got in an argument over who was wearing what dress or something.
No worries about a music career for Clara though — she has a bright future ahead. Flea is happy to say that she’s getting her bachelor’s degree at Bennington College.
