Charity work prompts Claire Sweeney to try for baby

English singer and actress Claire Sweeney, 35, has been so moved by time spent volunteering at a children’s hospice in Liverpool that she has decided to have a baby of her own.  Best known for her role on the British soap Brookside, Claire first performed at the hospice — called Claire’s House — at the age of 17.  Spending such a prolonged period of time at the facility, and seeing so many children ultimately succumb to illness, has motivated Claire to live in the moment.

My biggest problems are usually so trivial in comparison … These children are struggling just to survive.  They’ve also made me realize that we should all get on with life while we still have the chance.

For Claire, that means having children of her own with boyfriend Tony Hibberd, who already has a son from his first marriage.

I don’t want to miss the boat…I don’t mind whether we get married or have a baby first.  In an ideal world, it would be the right way around, but sometimes life’s not ideal.  I’m a firm believer in fate and trust it to take care of the future.
