Celebrity parents come out for the EGPAF Kids for Kids Carnival
On Saturday, May 19th, Kids for Kids Carnival in downtown NYC, a major fundraising event for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The foundation seeks to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eradicate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. The event raised more than $1.2 million for the Foundation.
One of the sponsors of the event was one of our favorite diaper bag brands, Skip Hop. At the Skip Hop Decoration Station booth, 600 children got to decorate their own Skip Hop kids backpacks, made especially for the carnival. Throughout the day, many celebrities came by the booth to help make sure the kids had a great time. Camryn Manheim, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Olympic figure skater Emily Hughes all helped at the booth.
Other celebrity parents in attendance included:
Edie Falco, who played air guitar in the Sony video game room and read to kids along with Meredith Vieira in the Disney reading room, Susan Sarandon and Sopranos’Steve Schirripa manned the Kidvillecookie-decorating station, Whoopi Goldberg played skee-ball in the traditional carnival games room, Jill Hennessy and her son Marco decorated cookies, and Helena Christensen hung out with her son Mingus, and Monkees Micky Dolenz rocked out.

The next EGPAF event will be on June 10- A Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival 2007 presented by Disney, at the Wadsworth Theatre Grounds, in Brentwood. Last year’s Carnival was attended by Christian Slater, David Boreanaz, Marcia Cross, Kobe Bryant and many more. Tickets are not cheap, but hey, it’s for a really good cause and you’ll get to see celebs: kids tickets cost $250, while adult tickets will set you back $1,000.
