Gwen Stefani on being part of the celeb baby boom

Songstress Gwen Stefani, 37, took a moment away from touring and caring for son Kingston James McGregor, 11 months, to talk to Australia’s Daily Telegraph recently about her tour, music, and of course, her son.

Gwen shares that it was surreal to be part of the celeb baby boom that took place in spring 2006 — Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes, Brooke Shields, Gwyneth Paltrow, and herself were all expecting babies in April and May.

I have to say, people were more interested in me having a baby, than any record or anything I’ve ever done in my whole entire life. I was in the celebrity baby boom! That was weird. It’s not like we called each other and said, ‘OK, we’re going to have sex now and have a baby.’ It was almost embarrassing. ‘Oh my God, that person is having a baby now, too?’

Gwen remarks that as strong as the spotlight is on her at times, it shines even brighter for her famous neighbor and fellow mother, Britney Spears.

It’s so sad. I feel like giving her a hug. I think she may move becauseof the grief. Every day there are 14 paparazzi cars waiting for her. Ifeel bad for her. It’s tough.

As tough as balancing motherhood and fame can be, Gwen says there’s one thing she promises herself she won’t do. While cooing ‘He’s just like his daddy’ to Kingston, who’s in her arms, she says,

I’m not giving him away to a nanny full-time. He’s been with me every day and every night since he was born.

Love, love, LOVE Gwen. She’s always so candid and real in her interviews, and whether or not people agree with what she says, you certainly have to respect that. She’s always been my idol!
