Donald Jr and Vanessa Trump welcome a daughter

Update: That was fast! A half-hour after this story was posted, People.com announced that the couple welcomed daughter Kai Madison on Saturday. The baby girl was almost three weeks early and weighed in at 6 lbs, 14 oz. Donald Jr. tells People,

Everyone’s great. Baby’s great, Vanessa’s great – and I’m getting used to theidea [of being a father]. [Yesterday was] a hectic day [due to the early birth, but] it’s definitely a changing experience.It’s very cool. [Kai is named after her maternal] grandfather. It’s Danish. He’s a Danish musicianand we wanted to keep it as a family name.

The couple expect their first child on June 1st — Vanessa says they’re ‘old-fashioned’ and don’t want to know the sex before the delivery.

Sarah’s note: Kye. It’s more common for boys — Jennifer Connelly’s oldest son has the same name! I wonder if because they didn’t know the sex, they just picked one name that they could use for either gender.

I wonder if its pronounced Ky or Kay. I think Kay would be cuter.

Congrats to the happy couple…..but I couldn’t help but notice that Mr. Trump Jr was not wearing his wedding ring, bizzare? I understand that a lot of woman have to remove their due to swelling ( I sure did) any way, congrats again!

If it’s the Danish (or Northern German) version of the name, it’s definitely pronounced Ky.
Here in Germany, it’s a pretty common boys name, but it does exists for girls, too.

Congrats to them! Kai is usually used as a boys name. The feminine version/variant is either Kaia (Scandinavian) Kaija (Finnish) and both are pet forms of Catherine. And the name is pronounced as KY.

It’s funny they named their daughter that since I was reading about another star I know of who has a five year old daughter named Kai, but she has a different middle name. I think the name is cute, though.

As for Donald Jr. not wearing his wedding ring (the picture is not reversed, look at the background), who cares? Not everyone wears their wedding ring 24/7/365. I take mine off when I’m washing dishes, taking a bath, before I go to bed, before I muck around in the garden, before I go swimming, etc. Sometimes I forget to put it back on, and it is quite likely that’s exactly what Donald Jr. did.
