Sheryl donated the money from the sale of the photos of her baby to WFP. I would do the same thing if I was being stalked by photographers to get the “First pictures” to sale for their own profit. I work for the World Food Program (http://www.wfp.org) and I think what she is doing is great. She should be congratulated for donating to WFP. More people die of hunger related causes than HIV aids, malaria and tuberculosis combined! The World Food Program is currently feeding over 20 million children each year however thousands more still die from hunger every single day. We need more help like this from everyone to help save the 850 Million people food insecure in the world…

I think 45 is the ideal age to, when you haven’t had the opportunity in your life to concieve and bear a child, seriously consider adoption. She isn’t likely to be able to bear a biological child after this time, and if it is one’s desire to be a parent, waiting any longer is not a good idea. Congratulations to Sheryl and her new son, born in time for Mother’s Day. I know she will be a wonderful mother and I applaud her for adopting a child from the U.S. There are children here too, who need a family.

I can’t believe some of the comments that have been posted. How dare someone say that an adoption is a publicity stunt! I am 100% sure that her adoptiong agency thoroughly screened her and made sure she was healthy enough to mother a child. Stating ‘publicity” as why you want to adopt a child surely wouldn’t fly with any agency!!
She has mentioned many times as to her desire to be a mother, biologically or not. Leave her, and other adoptive parents, alone!

I have to ask a question: Why is it that, whenever a celebrity adopts, people always say one of the following two things about her (or them):

1. She/they were allowed to adopt only because of their celebrity status

2. She/they were allowed to adopt illegally and/or quicker than normal because of her/their celebrity status?

And if it’s not one of those two, then it’s “She/they adopted as a publicity stunt”. Why, oh, why must people be so judgemental? Instead of constantly bashing celebs for adopting, why can’t we just be happy for them that they are either finally moms/parents or that they have a beautiful new addition to their family (like in the case of Brad and Angelina, who already had three kids when they adopted Pax)? All of that said, since Sheryl is in remission, I don’t see why she wouldn’t be allowed to adopt as long as her doctor gave her the okay.

Now that she is in remission, and if her doctor believes her to have a healthy future, adoption should not be a problem.
