Amanda Peet: Frances is adorable…but a little boring!

Actress Amanda Peet, 35, who’s currently promoting her movie The Ex, spoke to Us Weekly about her new daughter Frances Pen, 10 weeks.

What’s Frances like?
: She is so adorable! Frances is a little boring…She’s just not with it yet.

Losing the baby weight: Walking! I live in a hilly area in L.A. I had shin splits after a week!

Mommydates with Jen Meyer: Hopefully [Frances and Ruby] will play together when they’re older!

Boring and not with it? Like a blob maybe? The child’s clearly unloved and at risk.

- Shmoo on

That’s so funny; I bet she’s got a good sense of humor. No doubt she was aware of the blob backlash. I’d like to think she put that out there just to see how many people would overreact to it the same way they did to the blob.

- madison on

Yes because you would know that since you live with Amanda and her daughter? Give me a break I wish people would stop being so judgemental. I’m sure Amanda didn’t mean anything negative by that comment.

- Kim on

I hope the comment was taken out of context or not meant that way. I just think of my friends who would do anything for a healthy beautiful baby. Boring is never a word I would use to describe a baby. They are a precious gift to nurture. I don’t believe they are there to entertain you. Very sad

- Loralee on

lol Schmoo!
Funny. Dont worry amanda..they outgrow that stage.

- bebe on

Yes, Shmoo, I think you’re right. I feel sorry for poor Frances! Who calls their baby boring and not with it?!!! It’s obvious Amanda does not love her baby and is bad mom!!! I’m outraged!!!

:P

*Did I use enough exclamation points to sound believable?

- LOL on

I still could never have used the word boring to describe my babies. Even in jest.
They are just too precious to me!

I’d hate to think of her daughter reading that when she’s older. Jokes are usually rooted in some truth…

- yogadaisy on

Shoot, my daughter was boring for the first 3 months. All she did was sleep, eat and cry. Not that I expected her to tap dance or anything. So, I agree with her – babies are boring. My daughter is 6 months now and she’s a lot of fun (well… not so much when she’s crying). I’m just not into the whole newborn stage. :P

- Ashley on

haha i bet if angelina said that eveyrone would be outraged… double standards huh? what a joke! by the way i do agree with her, babies are boring at that stage. nothing negative, just my truth… and amanda’s by the looks of it lol

- marz on

Jen Meyer looks like a sourpuss in that picture, actually she does in most of her pictures. Her baby is very cute, takes after Tobey.

- Dancer on

Oh Schmoo, gimme a break. Because she jokingly referred to her daughter as “boring”, you think the kid’s unloved and at risk? That’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard.

I think it’s great that Amanda can joke and have a sense of humor about things that most mothers refuse to speak about. Hey, I think most babies are boring as hell, but I don’t love them any less.

It’s sad that so many women are judgmental against other mothers. Just because some people speak of their children as, “Little miracles from Heaven” and “beautiful, perfect angels”, doesn’t mean that should be the norm. I’d much prefer an honest, breathe of fresh air like Amanda than someone who wants to convince the world that their baby is flawless.

- Cali on

Chill, Cali – she was joking.

- Lydia on

hahaha, we need a sarcasm detector here ;)

yogadaisy, my mum told me how boring I was when I was a baby and my world didn’t fall apart. she was a stay at home mum, my dad was working during the day, and all I did was sleep, cry, and poo. a lot, apparently :D of course she also tells me about the warm fuzzy moments too but i’ve been around enough babies to know that the reality is not always like that.

your kids aren’t dumb, give them some credit.

- stephanie on

yeah newborn stage is boring… but i like staring at my child during those times.

- leis on

They grow, they eat, they sleep, they need changing, they spew, they cry… sometimes all at once. Of course newborns are an extravaganza of entertainment to their parents and friends and relatives… but essentially they are boring.

I think some parents are boring during the newborn phase. How many times has a new proud mum said… ‘look, she just spit up. How cute’? They also regale innocent bystanders with every single minute detail when really not that much is happening.
