Samuel L. Jackson cursed in front of his daughter

Samuel L. Jackson didn’t let his daughter get in the way of hisindecent language. The actor says he never censored himself around hisdaughter Zoe, now 24, when she was young, which led to her adoptingsome foul words early on as well.

I never edited my speech with my daughter and I talked to herlike Italked to my friends, but she could not answer me back the same way. Irecall hearing when she was three talking to her friends and saying’F**k you.’ She understood the context of different words. We took herto a wedding once and I was asking her about some food and she replied,’What is that s**t?’

I’m sorry, but I think it’s nothing short of disgusting to hear parents swear in front of their kids. Sure, we all slip from time to time (like when you stub your toe), but to constantly and consciously use foul language in front of your children? That’s just awful.

Haha, although that’s a bit shameful, it’s also a little funny. Children learn curse words sooner or later. My husband and I curse all the time, it’s just how we talk. For example, he was trying to put together a baby crib for our second daughter, and it was obviously not right. Our older daughter was 4 and I said “David, that’s wrong. Read the diagram, a**hole.” Things like that. And we slip f*** and sh** into conversations without even thinking about it. I do try to cut back a little around the kids, but honestly, mine don’t go around repeating it.

I think if parents put so much emphasis on “this is a BAD word. NEVER say it.”, then obviously your child is going to say it. They’re going to be curious and say it to other children too. It’s natural. My daughters never have major incidents like the ones Samuel is talking about. But the difference is that the few times my 4-year old Angelia says something like “what the hell is this?”, I tell her the truth. That’s not a nice word, and you can only say that around mommy and daddy. It’s not a problem, and not a big deal.

My dad talked like that around me, and so did my mom. I try to watch my mouth around my kiddies, but everyone slips up.
I learned all my good words from my dad, and my dad and I have a great, comical relationship that yes, does involve a lot of profanity.

I’m not saying its ok, but I turned out fine.

Sure we all slip up sometimes, it’s human nature to do it I think. But its never something to be proud of or think its funny… thats just shameful IMO. If I slip in front of my kids, I always tell them I am sorry for saying (whatever it was) and that mommy should not have said it. I always tell them that its a bad word and something we should always try not to say.
