Kate Winslet: A good parent, playing a bad parent onscreen
Oscar accolades aside, Kate Winslet says her role as an unfaithful wife and negligent mother in Little Children — new to DVD — is one of the most difficult she’s ever had, due in large part to the stark contrast between the reality of the character ‘Sarah’ and the reality of the actress portraying her. According to Kate, Sarah "wasn’t really a very good parent and I didn’t respect that about her at all."
We learn so much from our children. So much. And our children in turn … become the human beings they become because of how they are parented. I firmly believe that as a mother myself.
Kate is proud mom to 6-year-old Mia and 3-year-old Joe, and has been married to director Sam Mendes since 2003.
