RUMOR: Maggie Gyllenhaal's belly has tongues wagging

05/04/2007 at 01:02 PM ET

Maggie Gyllenhaal was at the New York premiere of her film Paris, Je T’aime on Tuesday wearing an oversized, free-flowing grey satin Yves Saint Laurent dress andappearing to have a bit of a bump that has raised some eyebrows. Her reps have not confirmed anything as of today.

Maggie gave birth to daughter Ramona, 7 months, last October.

What do you think? Is it just the dress? (We think she’s not- satin is not kind to lumps and bumps.)

Thanks to CBB reader Amanda.

That is funny, when I was looking on people.com today and saw that photo that was the first thing I thought when I saw Maggie.. If she is pregnant congrants to her..

Publicist Colby Fede had something to say about this rumor at the ultra swank hollywood party for Sudan orphans yesterday. I think he’ll be quoted in the next issue of variety.

wow – everyone is just obsessed with whether or not any celebrity is pregnant – huh? she has never been super thin – and she has seemed to be carrying a little post baby weight for a while. when i first saw this picture i thought she was actually looking thinner again – not pregnant. i would look like a cow in that dress – but i am pregnant – so that’s my excuse.

I also think that the cut of that dress is not the most figure-flattering. Anyone would look pregnant in a dress like that, don’t you think?

Jessica on

While it’s not the most flattering thing she could have worn, I don’t believe that she is pregnant. I always feel bad with stories like this. Can you imagine people speculating that you were pregnant again, pointing out your supposed baby bump, and you know for a fact that you’re not, it’s just your normal stomach? Talk about a kick to the ol’ self-esteem!

I don’t think so either.

Amy on

I think it’s just the dress or a postpartum body.

I dont think she is. It looks like a combination of the way she is standing, a satin dress and a “still gettin gback in shape” figure from when she gave birth ONLY 7 months ago! I think she looks great, i love that dress!

i doubt it. i think its just the dress and maybe she hasn’t shed every baby pound yet!

Amber Smith on

I dont think so. I just think she’s not the type of mom that works out 6 hours a day. She wasn’t exactly a stick before getting pregnant either.

Honestly, I don’t know what people are talking about. What bump? That dress (in that satin material) is probably the most unforgiving piece of garment imaginable but still I can’t see anything there.

Melanie on

I wondered if she was pregnant when I initially saw that photo, too. But, I have also seen recent photos of her, and she has a normal, post-partum body of a normal, non-celebrity woman. Little tummy 7 months after having a babe is no big deal (I’m in the same boat!) I think it’s not the most flattering choice of dress, that’s all!

Charlotte on

its called having a baby 7 months ago and not having taken off all the weight yet!

Daze on

I would never think a mother of a 7 month old was pregnant unless she announces it herself. Not everyone looses all the baby weight immediately. I used to not care for Tori Spelling, for example, but she is handling have a little extra belly after having Liam with such pose and finesse, that I am now a fan. She sort of makes no excuses for it, it is normal, it happens, I am working on it, but not losing sleep over it kind of attitude. Horray Tori. Yes, she may not have had a career had her Dad not been Aaron Spelling, but of the lot of child stars and Hollywood offspring, she seems absolutly charming, well-adjusted, grounded and has made a smooth, successful transition from teen star to adult actress and mom.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
