Kate Moss hopes for baby with Pete Doherty

Supermodel Kate Moss and her longtime on-again, off-again rock star boyfriend Pete Doherty are intently focused on having a baby, according to published reports.  The embattled couple — no strangers to baby rumors — are said to be prioritizing a pregnancy over any upcoming nuptuals, with Kate allegedly telling a friend "what counts is having a family and we need the bond of a child."

A baby would be the clincher between Pete and me — and Lila deserves a brother or sister.

Kate is already mom to 4-year-old Lila Grace, her daughter with ex-partner Jefferson Hack;  Pete has a son, Astile, with ex-girlfriend Lisa Moorish — but only has limited access to the child as a result of his ongoing issues with drug addiction.

Before a brother or sister Lila needs a stable home and not a drug addict for a mother and complete loser for a stepfather. I feel sorry for this little girl.

My intention is not to bash them, but I think a kid deserves a better environment to grow up..Seriously, both are addicted to all kind of drugs,how could they take care of a baby properly?
And if they eventually have a kid…Well I just hope they are totally clean at this time. (Which I highly doubt, sorry)

Call me CRAZY, but why do some women feel that having a man’s baby is going to chabge the world and keep them together. I am a little disturb by her comment. I think that Lila deserves a stpe-father that doesn’t have ongoing drug issues. Deal with that first before you decide to have another child. It bothers me how selfish some women can be. As parents we are responsible for our kids… to raise them in a society that is very tough at times. They deserves the best start, and when you have two parents that want to have a baby because that is what they feel would be best for their relationship is just WRONG… deal with the issues at hand first before you pass down your issues on to your child/children. He is obviously not as fit to be a father or he would see his other child more frequently. THAT IS CRAZY

I hope these rumors are false!!! Her having a baby while they’re both hooked on drugs?!!?! Oh my gosh, can you imagine what that would do to the baby? A child does not “cinch” a relationship…wake up you two! this is not a hollywood movie! You’re drug addicts and love living the rocker lifestyle…not exactly a great environment for a little one.

Well…depending on what kind of bond she means…it wasn’t like superglue with baby #1′s father. I’ve never understood people who think a baby will “solve problems”. I had a friend in high school who wanted to (and did) get pregnant to keep her boyfriend; thought everything would be perfect…they were married and divorced twice, and he is so addled by drugs he didn’t even recognize his own son when they bumped into each other on the street.

Baby or not, that is *not* what keeps a relationship together. If that were the case, why are you no longer with the baby daddy of your daughter?

As a British lawyer who deals with a large number of child care matters, it concerns me that Social Services have not yet become involved with Lila. I see so many parents with drugs problems having their children taken into care. It should not be any different for celebrities. I hope they both sort out their problems and provide a good environment for Lila to grow up in. Sooner rather than later.

Just so you know – Pete’s son is called Astile, not Estile. It’s a common mistake which has been repeated by a lot of news outlets.

I agree with Bex. How can Kate still have custody of Lila Grace? It’s crazy! In a perfect world, no child should have to grow up with junkies for parents. I hope they don’t have more kids until they’ve both been sober for at least a few years.

What makes everyone think she’s addicted to drugs? She was photographed several years ago taking cocaine and then went to rehab. He is a drug addict who needs help but there is no evidence to say she is too.

Peter’s son’s name is definitely spelt “Astile”–at least, that’s how his mother spells it, so I assume that’s correct.

Rumours like this terrify me–I adore Peter & Kate (mostly separately), but I *don’t* think a baby is what they need at this point.

Bex – I’m with you on this. When I first read of Kate’s problems I was so worried about her child.

I really hope Kate and Pete can get themselves straightened out. It’s not a safe environment for any child.

Wow. Really hoping that this is untrue. Obviously I hope both are able to overcome their drug problems, but given the fact that Pete already has limited access to his son..shouldn’t that ring a gigantic warning bell? I don’t want to jump to conclusions about Kate’s parenting of Lila, but her documented drug use is also hardly encouraging. Nothing against them personally…but why in the WORLD would they have a child together?

I hope this is only a rumor. Seeing the pics of her recently dangling out of a window with a spaced out Doherty close by gave me the impression these 2 are far form being “clean”.

I guarantee you this couple will not be together in 5 years time. Pete is way too toxic of a person. If they have a child together, Kate will find herself in the same situation she is now: a single mother. Only now she will have two instead of one. You don’t solve the problems between you and your partner by inserting a child into the equation. If anything it’s going to make things worse. Kate and Pete need to take care of themselves and Pete needs to grow up. WAY up. Only after they have both sought some help(together AND apart), should they come together and even think about starting a family.

This scares me! I think these two could possibly truly love eachother but I doubt it. They both are addicts and Pete is a scary addict and constantly looks ill. I would hope they do not produce a child. It could come out with serious health problems do to their lifestyle.

When Pete was younger he was amazing but now drugs have consumed his life. If he has another child, i believe he will only have restricted access to that child also. He needs to get clean before he starts thinking about a kid, and Kate should realise a child won’t make everything all rosy!

WHat I find most distrubing is the fact that Pete is not able to see his son from his previous relationship due to his drug habits yet Kate allows him to be aroung Lila. I say shame on you Kate!

I hope someone close to her has a very honest chat to her – a baby places enormous pressure on both parents and a person dependant on drugs is not going to handle that kind of responsibility…

As sad is it must be for her, she needs to face facts – he has to want to change his lifestyle and he doesn’t seem to want that enough. A baby isn’t going to patch that up. I’ve seen too many couples have babies as a ‘band aid’ for a bad relationship… all disasters…
