Introducing Princess Sofia of Spain
Sofia, daughter of Princes Felipe and Letizia, was presented to the Spanish crowds this afternoon at 18.10 Spanish time. The proud princes walked out of Ruber Hospital with the newborn and 18 month old daughter Leonor. A video can also be seen at Hola.
Letizia mentioned that it was fabulous having her second baby and that she seemed to be less blonde than Leonor when she was born. She also stated that she was going to breastfeed her and that planned to dedicate time for Sofia "just as she did with Leonor". She commented on the decision to name her like the Queen, saying that they both wanted the girl to be named after her grandmother and that "it is a beautiful name as well".
Sofia, named after her grandmother the Queen, was born on Sunday and has since today remained at hospital with her mother Letizia, who was recovering from the c-section. Leonor visited her mother twice while in hospital and looked happy to pose for the photographers for the family photo today. During the presentation, Leonor talked the whole time and kept tryingto runtowards her adoring public. She had taken a microphone and was playingwithit then demanded the other one from her dad! She also waved at thepress andpublic frantically saying — ‘hello hello hello!’
