Actor Tobey Maguire, 31, gets a grip on his daughter Ruby, 5 1/2 months, while leaving his hotel in Paris yesterday. Tobey, fiancee Jen Meyer and Ruby are currently in Europe for the Spiderman 3 press tour and premieres.

Obviously you’ve never had a gassy or colic-y baby if you find that way of holding her wrong. Our daughter had terrible colic and sometimes that was the only way to help soothe her tummy and push out those nasty gas bubbles. Lots of babies just like being held that way sometimes too, even when they’re feelin’ fine!

Uhhhhmmm…That’s a perfectly acceptable way to hold a baby of that age…especially a colicky one. And, little Ruby can see the world from that point of view and she’s not in any danger. I don’t think Tobey needs parenting classes. Jeez Louise. He has her firmly, but gently, in his grasp and she looks happy as can be. They are adorable…both Tobey and Ruby.

My daughter loved to be hold that way when she was Ruby’s age, and it was very comfortable for me too.

that is a good hold. My fifteen month old goddaughter, still likes to be held like that, but not as much as when she was younger. What a sweet little lady.

My sister was a very colicky infant and my dad used to hold her that way…. my mom freaked out!
my daughter is 3 and still likes to be held that way, though it requires some serious flexibility on her part AND mine… it takes both arms!
