Isabell, I laughed out loud at your tall person comment! It’s so true that it’s difficult to tell what will scare a kid. My little bro was scared of swings but loved roller coasters.

I like this room…so many people put their baby’s nursery in pastels. A child sees their first color around 6 months…which happens to be red. If you put a nursery in pastels all a baby sees is a white room. Why not engage a child’s mind and eyesight by making the room interesting and with something they can see? I think this room is fun!! This is definitely not a celebrity cliche room of cutesie pastels and cheesy stuffed animals. This room is GREAT!!!

I saw that crib at Pottery Barn Kids just yesterday and sells at nearly $2,000!!

And as far as the nursery goes, who cares? Really. Dezi doesn’t. He probably doesn’t even sleep in there yet. Nurseries are never for babies anyway, they’re for the parents. A child would much rather sleep in their mothers arms than in the most decked out bedroom.

I think it’s really awesome to have a name for your child before they arrive. You’re able to talk to your child before s/he even arrives, calling him/her by name. Plus it’s better than constantly calling the baby “the baby” or even worse, “it”.
They have an identity right from the get go.

I actually like the theme of her nursery. It does beat the beaten to death themes (e.g. teddy bears, princess). Good for her.

I tried to like it. I really did. I went back and looked at the photos a few times and eek, I really don’t like the theme. It’s not so much the theme actually, cute idea.. its the colours. Something screams dingy thrift shop to me. Blah. Too dark too much, too buy, too depressing.

I think the room looks awesome, but again its all personal tastes. Its a free country and I don’t think she is doing it to please anyone. I think these photos were taken by a bad photographer and might not have looked so dark if they had of used a better lighting system. I don’t think the girafee’s is that scary. A newborn only has a limited radius of where they see ( i can’t remember if its a few feet or inches..doesn’t matter)… and besides who is to stay that a tall person wouldn’t scare a baby…Let’s congrads them and let them be… Celebrities are people who get paid a lot of money by you all. You see their movies or shows or whatever their talent is.

I would have to agree with Alyssa. The room is very overwelming. It reminded me of a book someone got me when I was having my first baby. Even then (2001) the rooms pictured looked very outdated, tasteless and tacky. The book was from Lowe’s and since then they updated the rooms in the book for more Classy ones.

While naming your baby before birth isn’t weird at all. This isn’t the 50′s. People have names that they like and sometimes name honor family members. But come to think of it Im sure alot of people in the fifties (before the ultrasound) people had names (boy and girl) picked out prior to birth.

As far as personalized items alot of companies offer personalized gifts. More than likely she got that as a gift. And of course there are those wooden letters that people use to spell out their child’s name for use as a decoration. Its actually a very hot seller. Its a cute way of personalizing the room. My daughters love it, and we have gotten so many compliments on it and Ive had 5 moms ask me to make them for their nurseries.
