Dancer Michael Flatley announces birth of son

Lord of the Dance and Riverdance creator Michael Flatley has announced the birth of his son.  The as-yet-unnamed baby boy was born earlier today, at Cork University Maternity Hospital in Cork, Ireland.  He was delivered by c-section and weighed in at 8 lbs, 1 oz. Niamh was two days past her due date.

In a statement posted on his website, Michael thanked the medical staff who assisted with the birth, and said that both he and wife Niamh Flatley are "overjoyed."

Both mum and baby are doing well.  I cannot wait to get Niamh and our baby son home to Castlehyde.

The couple married in October 2006.
