Crown Princess Mary on her daughter and son

Crown Princess Mary, who gave birth to her daughter on Saturday, made a few comments to the press this morning. She said,

She’s been good, very good for her mother. Only up once a night. I breastfeed her…and she has a very good appetite.

On her son, Prince Christian, 18 months, Mary remarked,

Christian has been very brotherly towards her. He’s already shown interest  for her, a little bit of boyish love.

On the possibility of more children, Mary said,

This is only the second one. One at a time, but definitely.

Here, the family pose for photographers outside their home. Christian, who’s learning to wave to the crowd, was more interested in the helicopters flying above them!

Thanks to CBB reader Christine.

LOVE that baby blanket! Looks like cashmere? I wonder if it was handmade for her or if you can buy it somewhere (Oh please!) Anyone recognize it?

looks like an heirloom doesn’t it? They must be so thrilled to have a princess finally after all these years!

According to the Herald Sun paper in Melbourne, it’s a family antique lace blanket. But I don’t doubt for a second you’ll see them popping in shops everywhere soon!!

How exciting! I was just reading a Royalty
magazine today and wondering when Mary was
having her baby.

The blanket was made for Prince Christian and if you look at pictures of Fredrik and Mary leaving the hospital, Christian is swadled in the blanket you see above.

According to the magazines here in Denmark, the blanket (it’s actually a shawl) was made by Henrietta Donaldson, Crown Princess Mary’s mother, and Mary was also swadled in it when she was a baby, I don’t think it’s cashmere, as I doubt cashmere yarn was widely available 35 years ago. Some of the magazines here printed knitting patterns for the shawl after the birth of Prince Christian, I believe they were using wool, probably merino.

MARIE,
DO YOU HAVE THE NAME OF THE DANISH MAGAZINE
WHERE THE SHAW WAS PUBLISHED? I WOULD LOVE TO
HAVE A COPY. WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU QUOTE
OTHER PUBLICATIONS WHERE IT APPEARD. THANKS
