"Smokin" Joe Frazier drops lawsuit against daughter out of love
Joe Frazier, the former heavyweight champion boxer, dropped a lawsuit against his daughter, Jacquelyn Frazier-Lyde on Thursday after a month long battle over business records that Joe says his daughter kept during her stint from 1989 to 2004 as his lawyer. Joe said during a phone interview,
All I’m asking is for the papers, that’s all.
Jacquelyn has promised to help Joe find the missing records, which his lawyer and he feel may show that he is missing out on extra income, including product endorsement fees and film royalties, due to him. Joe’s lawyer, Michael P. Kelly was hesitant to drop the lawsuit against Jacquelyn after being asked to do by Joe, saying,
This is about a father’s love for his daughter. We’re giving her a chance to live up to her word. If we’re not fully satisfied, I’ll be right back, quicker than a Joe Frazier left hook.
Joe currently runs a gym with one of his 11 children, his son Marvis, who is also a minister. He earns most of his money from guest appearances. Jacquelyn’s lawyer William Dixon says,
She loves her father very much. She wants to see him prosper.
Jacquelyn is currently married with three children and is running in the May 15 Democratic primary for a seat on the Philadelphia Municipal Court.
