Jack Black gets antsy

It was an eventful week for Jack Black and his family, wife Tanya Haden, and son Samuel Jason, 10 months, as the clan evacuated their house not once, but twice last week after a fire and ants plagued his neighborhood and home.

A fire on his block forced all residents to flee the scene and upon returning, Jack encountered another problem that spread all the way to Samuel’s nursery.

When we came back after they got it under control, the house was covered in ants…There was, like, thousands, it was a full-on infestation. We moved out. If I was a tough guy, I would have stayed. I tried to mop them up a little bit but they were mad, they were biting. We have a little baby and they were infesting the nursery area. And that’s where I draw the line. We’re out.

The trio stayed at an hotel and called up an exterminator, who would not come over the weekend. Jack subsequently sought a "hippy-dippy" one who ended up spraying poison, which the actor wanted to avoid for Samuel’s sake.

We’ve got a baby so we don’t want to spray the place with poison. So we try and find the hippy-dippy exterminator guy and he comes with the long hair and he’s gonna kill all the ants with love. And he takes one look at the thousands of ants and says, ‘I’m sorry, I’ve got to bust out the poisons.’ So he squirted down the poisons. And the key was to kill the queen ant in the ant hives beneath the house. If you kill the queen the colony will fall.

Kudos to them for trying to find something that was eco/baby friendly. But you gotta do what you gotta do, they’ll just have to air the heck out of that house! It looks like in the picture that accompanies this post that they have the Primo Viaggio seat from Peg Perego in Mint. Awesome car seat (though on the heavy side)!
