Larry Birkhead on being a new dad, his possible future battles in court and getting to know his little girl

Larry Birkhead is learning as he goes with his new role as Dad to baby Dannielynn, 7 months. In an interview with the current issue of OK! Magazine, Larry talks about everything from Dannielynn’s long legs, to the potential custody battle with Virgie Arthur that lies ahead. We posted the photos and highlights earlier this week – here’s more.

When asked about what he thought regarding Virgie wanting to share custody, Larry said,

I don’t know what she wants. If she wants to be a grandmother, that’s fine. I have a mother that wants to be a grandmother and she’s not asking for all these things, so it’s kind of puzzling. I just want to take my daughter home and start a life with her. I already went through a battle to prove that she was mine, and now here we go with possibly another battle.

Meanwhile, Larry is spending as much time with Dannielynn as he can, and getting to know her better and better as time goes on.

She has her mom’s [Anna Nicole Smith's] long legs and she’s just beautiful. She likes me to make funny faces, funny noises and do silly voices for her. It’s so rewarding. As long as she’s happy, you don’t care what it is. It’s the little things that mean the most to me: the way she looks at me when I do something for her that she really likes.

He also shared his confidence in being able to handle the road ahead.

It’s [a road] that I’m definitely going to be able to handle. My sisters have babies and have been great. Even Howard K. Stern has been helpful.

And what about his new apparent friendship with Howard? Larry had this to say:

I’m thankful that everyone can get along for Dannielynn. How could you not? She’s so sweet and so cute, arguing is just going to hurt her and not help us any.

I really tried to feel for Virgie, with the passing of her daughter and her grandson. But, it just seems like she’s publicity nuts and wants as much attention as she can get. As a grandmother she should see that this is not the right way to do things for her grand daughter. Larry isn’t trying to keep her from Dannielynn. Why isn’t that good enough??

Interesting…I don’t remember hearing that Virgie was trying to get partial custody when Anna was alive. Can we say power hungry and totally selfish not carying about the welfare of that baby whatsoever?! The whole thing is disgusting!

awww Larry is so cute, he’s just gushing about his little girl :D

as for Virgie, i hope she falls flat on her ass, she’s only doing this for the money… she only went to visit her grandson’s grave to make money from Splash… it’s disgusting. Now i know why Anna hated her so much, shes nothing but a greedy bully.

Other than being the father if Anna Nicole Smith’s baby, who is Larry Birkhead? Does anyone know?

He’s a photojournalist.

Well I dont think that she would win custody anyway. I mean she’s Grandma and all but he is her father. Besides her relationship with Anna Nicole was not a good one. So besides being a biological Grandmother, I dont see her part in anything at all!

I can understand now the angry outburst of Anna’s when It comes to her

the way she said “mommy dearest” virgie should be locked up in an insane assilum .. and she wonders why Anna didin’t want anything to do with her. Good for Larry to stand his own ground with her.

If I were in Larry’s shoes i’d say screw the millions I’d rather have a relationship with my daughter and live in Kentucky away from celebrity town /state of LA/ California.
that way i’d show that I indeed have this child’s best interest at heart and am not in it just for millions that Dannie may not even end up entitled to.

if Howard would fight for Dannie’s millions and win i hope he will have decency to make a trust fund for her so when she is 18 yrs of age she can take it and only she can take it.
