Chris Rock has a paternity suit to deal with
Update: It was announced today that Chris Rock is pushing the paternity suit forward. Although Kali Bowyer withdrew her original papers recently (since by filing in Georgia when Chris lives in New Jersey, it falls outside of jurisdiction), Chris filed today to resolve the case. In the papers, a statement says that if Chris is proven to be the father, he wants to ‘contribute to the support, maintenance, and education’ of the boy.
A lawyer for Kali Bowyer said they are ‘looking forward to establishing that Mr. Rock is the father of their son and bringing the case to a swift conclusion,’ but would not say why Kali waited 13 years to file the original claim.
Originally posted March 29th: According to the National Enquirer, a 35 year old woman named Kali Bowyer is claiming that Chris Rock is the mother of her 13 year old son, Jordan. She has gone public with the news now because her son has been suffering from seizures and she says that knowing Chris’ medical history will help them figure out what’s causing them. On March 15th, she filed papers in a Georgia court, demanding Chris submit to a paternity test and pay child support, medical coverage and attorney fees.
Kali says that she wants Chris to pay for child support, medical coverage and legal fees. She said,
I don’t want a dime for myself, but support for my son. My son’s 13 now and he knows what’s going on. He told me the other day, ‘I don’t need him in my life, just to take the test so I can find out what’s wrong with me.’
Kali said she met Chris in the 1990s at an LA nightclub, when she was 21, and the two hooked up "six or eight times." She had been trying to get support from Chris, "from the time my Jordan was born until he was 3, I was talking to Chris’ lawyer, trying to get this resolved." She said she kept getting brushed off, even after she obliged their requests for Jordan’s birth certificate, baby photos, and her pregnancy medical records. She said,
I complied, I was nice, and I was patient, but in the end Chris still refused to acknowledge paternity. I just think that it’s rude that Chris just won’t respond. His attorneys exact words were, ‘This is going to disrupt his life.’
Kali would like to tell Chris,
Take five minutes, tell your wife you’re out for a cup of coffee, go to the doctor’s office and get the DNA test done. In five days we’ll have an answer.
Chris has two daughters, Lola, 4 1/2, and Zahra, 2 1/2, with his wife Malaak Compton-Rock.
