Henry Samuel gets his sandals at Target

B000i0tu9401a2h5440a6kuksc_sclzzzzzIn a completely normal mom moment, supermodel Heidi Klum was snapped mid-aisle in Target trying to get her son Henry Guenther Ademola Dashtu, 19 months, to try on sandals for the summer. She was at the store with her mom, Erna, a nanny, and all three kids – Leni, 2 1/2, smiled in her cart and Johan, almost 5 months, who was looking extremely cute in a striped outfit, pinched Heidi’s neck when she picked him up!

Johan rides in an Orbit Baby’s Orbit Infant System in mocha/khaki ($900) and Leni wears Nike’s Pico Plus V in white/realpink.

Popsugar has more photos.

Oh my good LORD, that little boy is adorable. What an angel!

- Jamie on

omg…he is so cute…and he looks so happy to be getting new shoes…and I love that they are at target

- stacy on

He is a mini Shay-Bear!*lol* That’s one of my friends..he looks just like him.

- Mandy on

I think that is neat.I bet its alot of celebs that shop at normal inexpensive stores like Target.Alot of celebs weren’t born with money so they appreciate the almighty dollar.I think thats a wise thing to do at times simply because children grow out of that stuff expensive or not.

- tan on

Popsugar has lots of pictures from that day, including a great one of Johan. Such a cutie! :)

It bothers me when when white people do not learn how to work with black hair and they let the kids look wild.

- J-LIn on

I remember Rosie O’Donnel saying years ago that just because she had a lot of money didn’t mean she couldn’t shop at K-mart, or another store like that. Besides where else can you get beach chairs, kids toys, shoes, coolers, and everything else under one roof? The only thing that made her trip to Target different from mine is that she has two full carts filled to the brim, and she is still carrying more items.. HA HA

J-Lin being a mother of two daughters that are biracial I can understand to a point what you are saying. However, some parents prefer to allow their children to have a more natural look. Maybe they will get Henry’s hair cut when he is older. Right now it just looks like he is rocking a mini afro.

- Yonni on

In the one picture in People Magazine, you can get a clear look at what is in her basket, I noticed some Good Start Formula. I just think its so cool that Heidi is a normal person hust like eveyone else.

- Terri on

Johan is so cute, he does resemble Heidi. Leni is a cutie too, and Heidi seems pretty down to earth.

- gabriella on

Actually, breastfeeding is normal. Formula is artificial infant food. Just sayin’.

- Elizabeth on

I too love it when celebs shop in everyday stores that the rest of us do! The photos are so cute. The kids look happy and excited to be out with mom and getting some new stuff!
Henry and Johan looks so much alike. I did however notice Leni once again had a bottle in her mouth…but then again with 3 kids under 3 it doesn’t surprise me anymore! It’s just one of my personal pet peeves ;)

- J.M. on

J-Lin, Maybe Henry and Johan’s “Black” father can teach their “White” Mother to do their hair…Just a thought since you stated how much it bothers you when “White” people do not learn how to do “Black” hair. Just sayin’

- Meghan on

Ok, first of all, breastfeeding and formula are both “normal.” Secondly, the formula was propably for Leni. Not all children are breastfed until the age of 5.

Hopefully the formula wasn’t for Leni! She’s going to be 3 in just a few weeks. The majority of kids switch from formula to cow’ milk at a year, although they still do make toddler formula for parents who want to give it. Heidi breastfed Henry and Johan to three months each, and Leni for almost the full year.

- Lauren on

I figured she wasn’t breastfeeding!
It wouldn’t really matter if it were anybody else, I’d just keep my opinions to myself but after her comment I can’t. How dare she stop breastfeeding her 4 month old and decide to give him formula not even goats milk a likely alternative. When she clearly stated a mother’s milk is the best gift a mother can give (a recent magazine interview). I personally believe it’s sad that I’ve never seen Heidi take her kids out by herself. I can understand that celebrities can have a lot (hired and unpaid help) but I’m a nany/babysitter for a VERY High-profile celebrity family and I’ve never seen this before nor feel this for this family.I don’t know the ins/outs of this family like I know mine but what I see I really don’t agree with. That’s my opinion, please respect it.

She did get some nursing in, for all the kids, which is great. We’re sure it’s extremely difficult with 3 children under 3 to get much of anything done! She didn’t have a nanny at all when it was just Leni – only her mom helped her.

- Sara123 on

How do you know that Lauren about Heidi Klum breastfeeding for that long???

When comments are in bold, they’re from CBB staff. We have heard Heidi breastfed that long because of what we hear from sources that we have – in this case a friend of hers. (Who has nothing but good things to say about Heidi’s parenting.)

- Carol on

If I I’m not mistaken, they’re the parents who wanted a “big” family. To me if your going to have kids you should at least take care of them no matter how much is available to you. Having her mother, father, husband and/or nannies(more than one)there chaperoning and caring for them 24hrs a day isn’t taking care of them.

- Sara123 on

The comments about formula not being natural and making out those who use formula to be slack parents is really harsh! I fully understand the benefits of breastfeeding but being so snarky about formula seems a tad rude. Some mothers would LOVE to breastfeed and physically cannot, for numerous reasons. Others cannot because of work commitments, etc. This doesn’t make them less of a parent, or any such implied thing. “Just sayin”

- aurora on

Ouch! I hope he wasn’t pinching too hard. Babies always manage to do more damage than they even realize they’re capable of. I’ve been on the receiving end many times, lol.

But I love the photos of her shopping in Target. It’s a favorite shopping spot of mine as well. Can’t beat some of their prices for things. Them and Walmart are my two favorites stores to buy things at a decent price.

Anyway, all of the kids look great and I love how excited Henry looks to be getting some news shoes. His smile is as adorable as he is. :)

And Johan is a regular doll, but now he’s growing into his own looks and not looking so much like a Henry replica. I can’t tell who he looks like right now. Looking at him again he sort of favors his mother in the face.

- FC on

Delurking here to point out that it’s pretty sad that HK is at Target, of all places, and not only is she snapped by paparazzi but here she is getting slammed for what she feeds her kids, how she does (or doesn’t do) their hair, or for having a nanny or whoever to help her take care of them.

All right, fine, so I’m looking at the pictures too, but lighten up, people. It’s none of anyone’s business how she takes care of her kids. Geez.

- T. on

Heidi is an intelligent woman and by all
appearances a great, hands-on mother. I
don’t think she needs CBB readers to
criticize all of her parenting decisions.
Frankly, it is nobody’s business!
We are the voyeurs of her private life.

- KarenC on

can you please remove J-Lin’s comment? i find it highly offensive!!!!

- bethany on

As much as I love gawking at pictures of Heidi and her adorable kids it is so sad that they are followed even to Target. In some of the pics at Popsugar you can see her looking into the lens with an annoyed look. I mean it’s just a Target run.

Wow, some of you CBB readers are harsh! But I guess it had to be said, I mean if you have all the knowledge, inspiration and intuition for everyone else’s families it is important to share your criticism, I guess. It is lucky we have so many perfect people in the world who feed their babies all the perfect things for the perfect ammount of time and care for their perfect children 24/7 in the perfect way.

It’s too bad your children have to share the world with the rest of ours. Just think what a wonderful place it would be if everyone was exactly like you.

- zaoli on

Oh my this woman is getting ridiculed for breast milk or formula.Wow,I’m african american and I have some bi-racial cousins and their mom has done their hair the same way those kids hair is right now. Please give this woman a break.Thats very mean of some of the comments posted on here.

- tan on

Sorry but some people need to mind their business when it comes to how long Heidi is breastfeeding and if she is giving formula to Johan. It’s her child, and not everybody breastfeeds till say the child is 2, doesn’t make you a bad parent, and it also doesn’t make you a perfect parent because you breastfeed until your child can talk. As for having a nanny, most celebrities do. Heidi is always with one or all of her kids in pictures, she seems pretty hands on and her mom is always around too, which is sweet for the kids to have a grandma around. If I was seeing her kids constantly with a nanny taking them to a park, or shopping alone, than I would say yea she seems like she lets the nanny do everything.

- gabriella on

I think her kids have adorable hair. I love the little mini-fro that Henry has and I’m sure it’s on purpose and not for a lack of knowing what to do with it. Heidi clearly has money, if for some reason she (and Seal!) couldn’t figure it out, she could certainly pay someone to do it. (I used to nanny for a family that temporarily took in their niece after her mother died — she eventually went to live with a different family member — and they paid someone to teach them how to work with her hair as she was biracial and they were white.)

As for the nannies … ok, yes, she does have a nanny with her, but she’s obviously very hands-on and is not like some celebs we see who are just passing their kids off to the nannies and doing their own thing. Plenty of normal people have “nannies,” they just tend to get called full-time babysitters and no one thinks anything of it because mom and dad are at an office job and not on a movie set.

- Jessica on

I can say that some people can’t nurse, due to unforseen issues, like failure to thrive, or problems with latch. Breast surgery, like reduction, which I have had, could also hamper the bodies ability to make breast milk.

- Angela on

Okay, people – for the record, I didn’t say anything negative about Heidi’s parenting, and I don’t really care what she feeds her children. I’m sure she is a great mom. I was responding to the comment that feeding formula makes her somehow more of a “normal” person.

Yes, some people cannot breastfeed and they need to use formula. That’s fine. It doesn’t change the fact that breastfeeding is “the norm” for infant nutrition. Our society sees bottle-feeding as the norm and that needs to change.

- Elizabeth on

Thanks for the tibit I love Heidi as mom! I watch her on Jay Leno and I remember her comments of her daughter potty training I felt for her like any other mother!! I was wondering how is her daughter doing now!!!!

- Julie on

If I could afford a full-time babysitter to come with me everywhere I would love it (and I only have one baby, not three)! I don’t know why people are jumping down her back about it. She’s always seen with the kids, they aren’t being raised by nannies–she just has a little help.

Anybody who has ever tried to leave the house with kids knows that sometimes you have to go to the bathroom or do something that requires having the kids out of site for a few minutes. Why should she drag three kids into a bathroom stall with her if she can have a babysitter watch them for her? I think people are just jealous she has full-time help. I am!

- PSB on

I hate to be the one to give out the bad news….
none of the mothers here who is insulting her are perfect parents themselves. Maybe when you are out in public with your own children people stop and look at what you are doing with them and insult you just the same way you are doing to her.

do onto others as you would like done to you.

did anybody ever stop to think that since they are celebs anf FOLLOWED EVERYWHERE that maybe it is a security reason to have a nanny with them to avoid potential kidnappings….a second set of eyes.

unlike the rest of you, celebs can not go out in public, or even there own backyard in some cases, with out having a herd of press shadowing them. try taking your kids out with a flock of camera tagging along, lurking at every corner.

as for the brest feeding. I never breast fed my twins. I decided not to, formual was easier. and I gave them solids fairly early too. They are, according to my doctor, two of the healthiest, and most thriving kids he has seen.

- sandy on

Breastfeeding is the ideal way to feed your child, I personally was devastated when breastfeading did not come as easily as I expected because it is the most natural way to nurture your child, right. I was lucky enough to be able to breastfead my child after 8 weeks of stuggling and being hospitalised due to the pressures that society places on mothers. Any breast milk your child is given is an advantage. As a society we have to stop making parents feel guilty for not breastfeeding. As I have already said I tried so hard and my poor son suffered in those first few weeks because I was told breast was best. I have a child that no memory of that time and his now thriving but I am haunted and angered when i read comments that indicate that women are selfish or less than because they had to bottle feed their child. Surely caring for your child and raising a respectful contributing member of society is more important.

- lulusass on

His hair is ADORABLE!!!!! I think that as a hairstylist, ANY hair on a small child can be difficult to manage for the parents. I have seen little girls with huge matted dredlock chunks in their straight caucasian hair! I think its pretty nasty to say that her “white” self needs to learn how to take care of “black” hair. How does his hair look wild? Is there a certain way he needs to wear his hair because he is biracial? Is he supposed to have tight braids or a shaved head? He has a very natural look and I think it must be alot easier for her that trying to make a 19 month old sit for any kind of time to make it look any different. imo…………………..

- Liza on

If I was a celebrity and I had three small children I would take a nanny with me whenever going in public as well. The paparazzi has already demonstrated time and time again that they have no repect for the privacy, the personal space, or the feelings of the children involved. I’ve seen videos of the press swarming certain celebrities where the photographers are in some way injuring and/or scaring the children. So better for Heidi to be safe than sorry.
