Introducing Art Honore Lewis
Australian radio personality, Kate Langbroek, from morning Nova radio station, and husband Peter Lewis, welcomed their third child on February 3rd. The little boy, Art Honore Lewis arrived at 11.08am and weighed in at 3.7kg. Art is welcomed by big brother Lewis Jan (yep, that’s Lewis Lewis), 3 and big sister, Sunday Lilly, 23 months. Kate and Peter spoke to OK magazine and posed for some cute photos.
How is Kate feeling after the pregnancy and birth?
Relieved, Art was three weeks early. I’d never had that ‘over it’ feeling in my pregnancies before, but boy did I have it this time! During the last month I had a thousand types of discomfort and I kept having those self-indulgent, pitiful moments when you think, ‘I can’t do this anymore!’ but then Art arrived and I forgot all that.
The last few weeks were tough; Art was breech and Kate was uncomfortable.
Art was breech, which is why I was so uncomfortable. I had his head jammed up under my rib cage and his feet cog-dancing on my ovaries!
Kate had a cesarean and Peter was present.
Oh yeah, Kate had a cesarean and was really relaxed and chatting away. Lewis and Sunday were also cesareans and she was more anxious then. I have to admit to some nerves, but I was excited, too. Kate went into the theater half an hour before me and then it all happened so quickly. The next thing you know you have a baby.
Kate’s take on the birth.
It was quite jolly in the operating room and I just think I was more mentally prepared this time. The nurse put up a screen and the next minute they dangled this gorgeous baby over the top.
Lewis and Sunday’s reactions to Art.
From the moment Lewis saw Art he couldn’t stop smiling. He’s been so gentle with him, which surprised me because he was a bit rough with Sunday. He clonked her with the remote control a few times! They both ran to the bed to see him – but Sunday got over it quickly. But now they have to have a turn cuddling him. Sunday just says ‘turn, turn, turn’ and puts her arms out. Lewis gets into bed when I feed Art in the morning and we all have a cuddle.
And Kate is back to work already.
I’ve done it twice before so there are no surprises. Art is noisier to feed though. I fed the other two on air – I don’t know if I’ll be able to do that with him. Art goes down to sleep about 9pm and wakes at 3am for a feed. So I feed him then, and then I shower and get ready for work. One of the girls from Nova collects me and stays with Art while I’m on air. He’s cuddled for three hours every morning.
Any more babies?
No I’m shutting up shop!
Kate will be known to many Australians as the woman who controversially breastfed Lewis on-air, while on the television talk show The Panel, when he was a baby.
