Antonia Kidman and husband welcome fourth child

Antonia Kidman, the kid sister of actress Nicole Kidman, and her husband, Angus Hawley welcomed their fourth child and second daughter together today, in Australia. The baby girl has been named Sybella and joins older siblings, Lucia, 8, Hamish, 6, and James, 3. The little girl arrives just in time to meet her aunt Nicole, who is due to arrive in Australia this weekend.

What do you think of the name, do you like it? (It is similar to Nicole’s daughter’s name, Isabella.)

Aww, another girl. So cute. So now it’s two girls and two boys!
Interesting name. Not sure if I like it or not.

Cue 70 or 80 years of the girl having to say “No, not Isabella, ‘Sybella’.”

- Sabina on

Congrats!! The name is actually not half bad! Kinda pretty. Now lets hope those rumors of Nicle and Keith being PG are true!!

I like the name. It’s not an everyday name but its also not totally out there or inappropriate. It’s a variation of sybill/cybill, a much more feminine variation in my opinion. I think with the names Lucia, Hamish and Sybella they’ve done a great job of finding that balance between too common and too weird.

I wouldn’t have named a child something so close to my nieces name. I don’t mind the name but to have an Isabella and a Sybella in the same family is just odd.

maybe she’ll be nicknamed Sybel for short lol.

- J.M. on

Don’t like the name much. No offense, but I really don’t get the whole ‘Bella’ names craze.

I agree, J.M. I wouldn’t have given my daughter a name so close to my niece’s either. I’m dying to name my future son Christian, but it’s very close to my godson’s name, Christopher. I worry that the two are too similar, even though they’re spelled and pronounced differently.
Anyway, I don’t care for the new baby’s name, but I LOVE the name Isabella and plan on giving it to my future daughter. I also agree with Sabina that she is going to live her whole life having to correct people, which will get old fast.

My uncle named her daughter something similar to my nickname, the name everyone who knows me uses. It scarred me for life. I never had a problem with him but to this day, more than ten years later, I still hate that uncle and his family. I realise it’s completely ridiculous but I just can’t explain it. I get the heebie jeebies even when they’re just mentioned.

But that’s just me :D

YES! Excuse me while I’m doing a happy dance!

Yesterday I hoped it was a girl on the way, and now I’m FINDING it’s A GIRL!!!

Welcome to the world, Sybella.

- Laura on

I have this kind of issue with my sister. She’s had six kids and taken all the good family names but altered them slightly. Instead of William, which I love, she has Willem. Instead of my brother’s name, Alexander, she’s made it Aleksanteri (the Finnish/Russian version – her hubby’s Finnish).

I feel a bit cranky that she’s hogged all the good strong family names. It feels a little stupid – seeing as I’m still a year or so away from having babies – but I still think it’s a little inconsiderate. How dumb is that?

- Lilybett on

So I like this name a lot but I supposed I’m hugely biased since my name is “Sybil” and none of my friends have ever even remotely taken me seriously when I have suggested my name as a possible baby name.

And I actually really like my name — it’s unusual so I don’t meet too many people named Sybil but I also have gotten lots of compliments on it. I may even like Sybella better — not sure . . .

Now I just hope my kids like their names when they are adults . . . .

I agree with another poster that I sure hope Nicole really is pregnant!

Oh, and finally, I can’t imagine having 4 children but then I work a crazy full-time job — much credit to Antonia that she can handle 4!

- Sybil on

uh, lee, I was five. back then I also put grass on my shoes so Santa’s deers would have something to eat. some people get a phobia of water or spider from childhood, in my case it’s my uncle. my insensitive, inconsiderate of my five year old feelings uncle :-)

- stephanie on

Depends on how it’s pronounced, it could be Sy-billa not Sybella and therefore nothing like the cousin’s name of Isabella.

- Dazzlar on

I kinda like the name. It’s really pretty and feminine. But I see the point of it being too close to Isabella. But I still like the name!

- Stephany on

I just read at IMDB, that the couple split up like three months ago. Almost right after the baby was born. That is so sad!
