Keith Urban looks forward to fatherhood

It’s been a eventful year for high-profile couple Keith Urban, 39 and Nicole Kidman, 39, who have been married for nine months. However, things seem to be settling down for the couple and they may be ready to have their own baby. Nicole has frequently talked about having children with Keith, and this is what Keith had to say about the subject when he talked to The Sunday Telegraph:

I am looking forward to fatherhood. I have always wanted to be a good dad. My brother’s got two kids and he’s an excellent dad and I think we both have that sense of being home and being solid family guys.

Keith is already a stepfather to Nicole’s two children, Isabella and Conner, who live with their father, Tom Cruise, but he says,

I don’t get to see the kids as much as probably a lot of step dads would, but it’s a good relationship.

I really like Nicole as a person from what I know of her, but I have to say that I think it’s pretty odd how the kids live with Tom full-time and are hardly ever with her. Something about that arrangement seems off to me, especially since Isabella is studying Scientology (not sure if Connor also is) and Nicole is very Catholic. She doesn’t seem to spend much time with/have much influence over them at all.

I agree Lauren. She never seems to spend any time with them and you always see Tom and Katie every where with them and at all of their games.

Connor and Isabella are scientology school, it used to be cruise’s sister teaching school to them. I feel so sorry for Nicole she can see the kid, when they divorced they said share custody 6 months but…

Connor and Isabella Cruise are both homeschooled with Hubbard’s Study Tech (or whatever it’s called)

I always found it very strange as well, and I hope Katie doesnt enter her own daughter in such an arrangment should she split with Cruise. I’m a Katie fan more than a Tom fan, and would like to see that baby grow up with her mother.

Lauren: I don’t think the kids do live with Tom full time. The last thing I read of the custody arrangement said that Tom and Nicole share joint custody with the time split exactly 50/50. I’ve also read many interviews with Nicole in which she has stated that she prefers to keep the kids out of the public eye as much as possible and so she likes to keep their time a lot more private. Plus Tom lives in L.A. where it’s very hard to escape the press. Nicole lives in Nashville and she has talked in interviews about how nice it is to live there because the press and the public are so respectful of her privacy. So it’s only natural that we see more of the kids when they’re with Tom. Plus Tom and Katie are a lot more famous than Nicole and Keith are.

I think a big part of the reason why Keith is saying that he doesn’t spend much time with the kids is that he was in rehab for 3 months out of the nine months that he’s been their stepfather. Plus he’s on tour a lot so that probably cuts into his time with the kids.

That’s why she did not want a divorce – to keep the family together. But Tom left and divorced her to be with Penelope Cruz, even though she begged him not to and was pregnant with his child. As far as custody of the children, control freak Tom dictated the terms of the divorce. She could have fought with Tom through the courts. Nicole did not want a nasty and ugly divorce in order to protect the dignity and privacy of those involved, especially her children. She was devastated by what happened and took it very hard, even blamed herself. Her family and friends helped her through it. I really admired the way she handled the situation. If nothing else, blame Tom for what happened.

By the way, the children are Scientologists. I am sure they have to live with Tom as part of the rules of that religion. If you truly like Nicole, you should feel sorry for her for the way Tom treated her.

She and Keith should have children if they wanted to. Who are we to say they should not? She is a Catholic (like I am) and should follow what God said “go and multiply”.

I believe that the kids live with Tom full-time since he lives in LA and Nic and Keith live in Australia and Tennessee. The parents wanted to keep Connor and Isabella at their same schools and near their friends. In regards to Scientology, you can be Catholic and a Scientologist. Tom puts the kids more in the public eye than Nicole wants to, so I think they see their mother- it just isn’t a paparazzi event.

UK MSN are reporting that Nicole is already pregnant! Although rumours have surfaced a hundred times within the past year so I guess we’ll have to wait and see … again!
