Joely Fisher's "spectacular" home birth

‘Til Death star Joely Fisher stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show today and talked about the home birth of her second daughter, True Harlow Fisher-Duddy, 14 months next week, which she calls "spectacular."

I had this miraculous birth and the first one (Skylar Grace) was fine and here she is – she’s almost six, and gorgeous and smart and funny and loves American Idol. But I decided to have her at home and had a lot of friends around and of course her father was there. And of course, the doctor, the doula, the midwife, the butcher, baker and candlestick maker.

Joely adds her sister teases her about the birth, saying that Entertainment Tonight was present as well because "I don’t do anything without catering and a gift bag and a camera crew." The actress filmed the birth for herself – without a camera crew – but for her next child, she might have one, courtesy of Ellen.

For the next one, we’d like you to have it here. We’ll have all the people you need – the doula, the doctor, the butcher, the candlestick maker.

The girls’ father is Joely’s husband, cinematographer Christopher Duddy.

I love it when celebs speak out about having homebirths. The more people come out and talk about their births the more “normal” it will seem. I’m planning on having a home waterbirth next time around and I can’t wait!

I think it is wonderful.
Homebirth is a safe option for women.
Good for her.

I dont know if anyone else saw the show… but Ellen is too funny! Joely was talking about the homebirth and how she had the baby at home on her bed, and Ellen says, “on purpose”? She’s so funny! Also Joelly’s daughter Skylar was shown on the show a few times, she came out of the dressing room to watch her mom.

I also love it when celebs speak out about homebirths. Home birth is such a wonderful thing and it’s great when celebs can represent it as the joyful thing that it is – and humor does help!

I’m so happy for Joely, and that it’s still such a good thing for her

I think it is great as well! i have noticed so many women in hollywood getting c-sections. The percentage of cesarean births have increased almost 50%!
