Bec Hewitt talks Mia's milestones!

03/20/2007 at 02:14 AM ET

Australian soap actress and mother, Bec Hewitt, wife of tennis player, Lleyton Hewitt, talked to Woman’s Day about her daughter, Mia Rebecca’s most recent milestones. Mia, who is 15 months old, will be familiar to all Australians – she is absolutely adorable and appears in the magazines every few weeks (the family has a contract with Woman’s Day – Bec also writes a column for them – so alot of the photos are posed for rather than paprazzi shots).

Mia is learning new things all the time.

She knows all her animal sounds, and colours, and loves trying new words.

She isn’t a very fusser eater.

She absolutely loves her skinless sausages, her two favourite foods (besides fruit) are probably chicken and yoghurt.

She is on her way to being bilingual.

After spending some time in French-speaking places (Belgium and Marseille) recently, Mia now says ‘au revoir’ and I’ve picked up a few French-speaking toys for her to play with.

Mia is a beautiful little girl. I love this family but I do wonder how much longer the Hewitt’s will continue to sell the details and photos of their little girl – I mean when is it enough? A monthly column until she starts school perhaps? Don’t mean that in a harsh way, it is just my opinion.

On a different note (cos I found this a little worrying) my daughter is the same age as Mia. She doesn’t know one of her colours and only says 3 words, definitely none of them in French. Is Mia advanced or the norm?

Bella my boy is two and he talks and talks and talks, recognises everything and is at a stage where he communicates alot. It worried me that he didn’t really ‘get’ colours properly so i did some research and was told that they don’t properly see the difference in colours yet! I don’t know when they do exactly but thats what i’ve been told, it’s more fluke than recognition…

Bella, my niece was born a day before Mia and she is still only saying Mum, Dad and Nana!

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
