Patrick Dempsey takes his girls out on the town

Patrick Dempsey spent Thursday night taking his wife Jill and 5-year-old daughter Talula, for a family dinner at Japan restaurant Katsuya in Los Angeles. The Dempsey twin boys Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, 6 weeks old, stayed at home with the nanny. Just Jared has the adorable family photos.

Thanks to CBB reader Mary Beth.

How old was your baby the first time you went out for dinner without him/her?

When my twin girls,Molly and Abigail, who are now 3 were 4 months old my husband and myself went away for the weekend to celebrate his 30th birthday…the kids stayed at my mothers. It was great to get a break!

I believe the boys (twins) were just a few weeks old when our inlaws came over to watch them while we went out for a quick dinner.

Four and a half months. I left him with my parents and my brother so it was a 3 to 1 ratio. I also kept my cell phone on the table, ordered the second we got there, talked/worried/obsessed about him the whole time and was back home in exactly 2 hours. I only went because it was our 8 year anniversary and felt bad about it.

To make things worse, I’d pumped milk for him, just in case, but fed him before we left so he shouldn’t have needed to eat at all. I got back and they’d fed him every drop of breastmilk which should have been enough for two feedings. Needless to say, I needed to pump as soon as I got home and that was all I did before going to bed. Hubby was not feeling the love that day!

Oh man, McDreamy looks McTired! Not that I can blame him, of course. I cannot imagine sharing my home with TWO newborns. Twins run in my family and I think I’m the only one of my siblings praying it doesn’t happen to me!

We went out for dinner to celebrate Josh’s birthday when Anya was 7 weeks old and my mom babysat. I had my cel phone on the table because I didn’t want to miss any calls from home just in case. I had pumped milk for her in case she decided to take a bottle (nope).

Before we left, we told my mom that she could put Anya in the Peanut Shell to calm her down or put her to sleep and tried to show her how to use it but my mom dismissed it (you know, Grandma knows best). When we arrived home, we found my mother bouncing around the living room in the dark wearing a screaming Anya in the Peanut Shell (incorrectly).

I believe my eldest was around 2 1/2 weeks when my ex-husband and i had an evening out.

He seems like such a great dad … since the twins have been born he has made sure to give attention to Talula and make her feel special. McDaddy rocks.

Our first was about 9 months old when we had to go to a wake without him. We would have taken him, but it was an 8 month pregnant woman who died, and we didn’t want to upset everyone with the baby there. It ended up being unexpectedly huge and we were gone for over 3 hours. We didn’t leave him again for at least 6 more months!

Our son (now 5) was five weeks old when we went to a good friend’s wedding. My husband was an usher and I did a reading, so we really had to attend….

My mom came over to stay and she called around 11pm to say that the baby was upset and she couldn’t calm him down. Dh drove home (which was about five minutes away from the reception) and he was sound asleep. So he came back and we had a wonderful time.
