Gallery of the Absurd has posted this satirical cartoon of Angelina Jolie and her children, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 5 1/2, Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 2 and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 9 1/2, months. Angelina carries the children in an all inclusive baby carrier.

While clever on the part of Gallery of the Absurd, I’d come to expect more from this website. Posting disrespectful things like this embodies the very things that this website supposedly strives to prevent.

While clever on the part of the Gallery of the Absurd, I had come to expect more from this website. Posting something that makes fun of a celebrity parent, even one that is surrounded by as much controversy as Angelina Jolie, is in poor taste. This is very hypocritical of the standards that this website seems to promote.

After reading the commentary on the cartoon itself, I feel the need to mention something.
Why are people treating her as though she thinks children are Pokemon (“Gotta catch ‘em all!”)? So she’s adopted three children and had one of her own. If she were having these babies naturally, no one would so much as bat an eyelash. But because she’s had the audacity to adopt them, she’s vilified. An OK! Magazine article from this month’s issue even had a crackpot shrink give an interview about how Angelina must easily get bored of her children, and that’s why she has so many of them.
She’s a wealthy woman who loves kids, and who wants a big family. She wants to add to her family while helping children who don’t have anyone to care for them. She wants people to know that there is no stigma to adopting a child, especially one who is visibly different from the parents. You don’t have to worry about keeping the “secret”, because adoption doesn’t make you any less of a parent to that child.
It’s just something that’s always bothered me. Regardless of whether you love her or hate her for the Brad Pitt thing, you have to admit that her heart is in the right place.
