Brooke Shields offers her support to Britney

Brooke Shields, who suffered from postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter, Rowan, in 2003, offered her support to Britney Spears, who is currently in rehab, during an interview with Access Hollywood, which will air Monday. Brooke added;

I hope she’s fine. I believe she’s going to be fine, and she just needs the support and her kids. She’s their only mom, and she’ll earn that back in her own mind.

If she is suffering from postpartum depression says Brooke;

Then it really needs to be reckoned with, and it’s very common, and she’ll get through it.

Brooke wrote, Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression ($9.50) to tell of her experience with postpartum depression after having Rowan. Since then she has had Grier, now 10 months, and did not suffer from it again, to our knowledge. And if Britney is reading her book?

If [Britney] is reading my book, I hope it’s helping her. If it’s not, and she wants to talk to someone, I’m available.

good for Brooke! If Brit has had even the slightest problem with PPD she deserves support to get better!

I sympathize with women who have PPD but in Britney’s case it seems like the cocain problem is probably the larger issue.

Brooke seems so nice! It’s kind of her to offer support to Britney in this hard time. I hope Britney thinks about it or maybe even takes Brooke up on that support.

I read Brooke’s book. I don’t have kids or resulting PPdepression, but it’s a powerful read, nonetheless. She talks about finding out she’s miscarrying while appearing on The Muppet Show one night. She’s incredibly brave to write about her experiences like this – and is generous to use her experiences to help others.

Ok Book says “If [Britney] is reading my book, I hope it’s helping her. If it’s not, and she wants to talk to someone, I’m available.” Then why would she say then britney can talk to her. The book is about Brooke herself.

It’s extremely generous. She seems really nice. But I think Spears suffers more from attention seeking/spotlight need than PPD. Just my opinion.

If I were Britney I would take Brooke up on her offer.

I think it’s wonderful that Brooke is offering support to Britney. Sometimes just talking to someone who has been through the same type of thing helps you not feel so alone. It’s nice to see people trying to support her instead of condemming her as hopeless. PPD can be crippling, and is very scary. If I dodn’t have support, there is no way I would have gotten through it.
