Well she said no dates tell 18 she did not say no boys could come over. I won’t allow my children to date tell 18 either. Yet they can bring a boy over to the house and we can take the boy as a family out ot the movies and a variety of other things. I don’t see a need to date either. Many people don’t let their children date for religious reasons. Many kids turn out just fine. To date means to go out with boy alone and that could set a child up for some bad things. However just because you don’t date does not mean you find healthy ways to meet boys and get to know them. I say good for her. I don’t think any mother would want their child to be like Madonna was in her younger years.

I feel sorry for Lourdes, and not for not being able to watch TV, but to have a mother so controlling that she can’t even have a date until she’s an adult. Part of the fun of being a teenager is falling in “love”. I totally think Madonna is hoping to correct her mistakes through her daughter, and it’s not fair to her. I wonder if she will be so tough on her son.

I get it – after she’s contaminated the minds of America’s youth, she wants better than that for her own kids.

I agree with Heather. Madonna’s not being hypocritical, she’s just grown up and become what sounds like a good mom. I have yet to meet a parent who doesn’t have higher expectations for their child’s behavior as a teen and young adult than they had for themselves. Also, I highly doubt she throws the clothes away. She’s simply teaching her daughter a lesson about picking up when clothes left on the floor disappears for awhile.

TV is def. worse today then what it was back when she was first getting started so I can understand her concern. She has stated before that her kids get to watch movies but they don’t get to watch regular cable tv. And during the week, why should they?

I find it funny about the clothes. I too would probably have the same attitude. If I bought them, I have a right to do what I want with them. I personally wouldn’t throw my kids clothes away but if it was a fav. outfit I’d take it from them for awhile. However, Madonna’s rich, throwing clothes away for her is nothing!

Everyone changes once they have kids. I did a lot of things growing up that I certainly would like to prevent my child from doing. It’s not shame of my pasy cause I certainly won’t hide from it..but it’s a realization that those things were indeed stupid and if I can take away a lesson from those antics and teach my daughter a lesson with it..then I will. It’s not being a hypocrite..it’s called growing up and being an adult. It’s called being a parent. In this day and age when there are so many parents letting their kids just get away with things and do what they want..it’s nice to see a parent, especially a celebrity parent, taking charge and making rules and bounderies for their kids. Her kids are growing up well mannered so far so, I think she’s doing a good job.

I think Madonna is a wonderful mother =) They are all smart, unspoiled and well-mannered. I didn’t know how her offspring would turn out but so far so good! hehe =)

Being strict is a good thing, but the way she speaks of her daughter…Mommie Dearest anyone? She sounds like she is channeling Joan Crawford minus the physical abuse and issues with wire hangers.
