Robbie Williams on the idea of having children

by CBB correspondent Joyce:

Robbie Williams just entered rehab for prescription drug dependency, but before he sought treatment, he commented on the idea of having children. The British pop singer, who, in addition to drugs, has battled alcoholism and depression, said he doesn’t want kids because he doesn’t want them to endure life’s harsh moments of anguish and misery as he has.

I don’t know if I want to be in a relationship. I don’t believe that to be fulfilled you have to have kids. What’s the point? I can’t guarantee my child won’t suffer pain – because that kid’s going to be in pain at some point in their life. I don’t want to see that. It’s too much.

Robbie was admitted to a treatment center in America on Tuesday, his 33rd . He was most recently treated for depression in October.

I commend him for making the responsible decision that children are not for him rather than bring a child into a bad environment of drugs, alcohol and depression.

obviously he is not a good place mentally atm. as a man, i guess his fertility cycle is slightly more “flexible” than a female’s. it’s nice that he’s honest-if he doesn’t feel right to be a parent, that’s 1 thing, but saying he doesn’t want kids in case they experience misery sounds kinda odd to me.i mean, how can u foresee something like that?

I think Rob is at a point in his life where he now has to sit back & seriously contemplate where he is headed. He has been suffering great emotional & physical pain for way tooo long now, time for him to let go & pursue his dreams.Marriage & babies will come, but not for a while yet, if ever. I wish Rob all the luck in the world with whatever he does do,he’s such a Sweety, he’s the best :)

I think that he will find someone when the time is right and he will have a family also when the time is right!

The first thing he needs right now is to get himself well and then work on the rest of his worries after that!

Just hang in there Rob it will happen for you!

Rob is a very good lad, he’s honest – he can’t be a parent by now.
But, he’s trying hard to get well.
I hope he gets well soon. He deserves it!
Go on Robbie! you’re a wonderful guy!
WE LOVE YOU!

All human beings suffer anguish and misery
at some point in life. Robbie has turned to
the wrong coping strategies in the past, but
at least he is now getting help.
