Matt Damon may be a new father, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t planning on how to juggle parenthood with his film career before he was one. The Oscar winner, father to Isabella, 8 months, and stepfather to Alexia, 8, says he’s been observing parents in show business for years out of sheer curiosity as to how they handle it.
One role model he looks to is Paul Greengrass, director of his films The Bourne Supremacy and the upcoming The Bourne Ultimatum, who brings his wife and three children along with him to shooting locations.
Matt, 36, tried to travel by himself to Tangier for a three-week shoot for Ultimatum, but soon realized he couldn’t stand to be apart from his three girls.
I was away from my family for those three weeks. And it was miserable. Miserable. And I don’t want to do that again. And my wife and I decided that we don’t have to.
Matt and his wife, Luciana Bozan, met at a bar in Miami in 2003 when he was filming Stuck on You. They have been married since December 2005.
