Anna Nicole Smith had pain drug prescriptions while pregnant

TMZ has evidence that Anna Nicole Smith obtained (possibly illegally) and filled prescriptions for methadone and Demerol.  TMZ has copies of air bills for packages she received on August 8th: one contained 30 pills of Demerol, 30 pills of Dalmane, a sleeping pill, andinjectable vials of vitamin B12, and the other package contained 500 ml of methadone.  They also have a copy of a prescription for "Michelle Chase" (a name used by Anna) for 500 ml ofmethadone (5mg/5ml solution).

It is not known whether she actually took these drugs during her pregnancy or afterwards or at all.  The drugs may have been obtained for her son, Daniel Smith, or Howard K. Stern, or another person.

Demerol, a narcotic analgesic, is a popular choice for painrelief during labor (since it alters how your body recognizes pain). Dalmane is used for the relief of insomnia and is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. Methadone is used in treating narcotic addiction but is also used to manage chronic pain.  Vitamin B12 can be used to relieve anemia.

Sadly, I’m not shocked by this one. If she did take them while pregnant wouldn’t Dannielynn have some residual efects though? I imagine if she did her medical records would have surfaced with that information by now. On the flip side, I have a feeling this stuff came from that break in, and regardless of how I feel/felt about Anna Nicole this is so sheisty it’s sickening. Take this stuff to the courts, not the public.

Actually, I know firsthand that narcotic painkillers are safe for pregnancy and do not harm the baby’s development. It was necessary for me to take them during my last pregnancy after an injury. The one caveat is that you need to wean off the medicine in the third trimester to ensure the baby will not have respiratory issues or withdrawal symptoms after birth. I can’t imagine why Anna Nicole would need such an array of different pills, and am surprised a doctor would not prescribe morphine (which is the purest of the drugs, doesn’t have addititves that could be of issue). I can only hope she was under the care of an OB that knew she was taking the pills.
