I’m really glad to hear what she has to say about not bringing her children on set. In the past I’ve heard a lot of actresses boast about bringing their children to work with them. Babies are one thing — they often need to be close to their mothers — but I really can’t think of anything more boring and unstimulating as being on set for small children. It’s such a waiting game even for adults; it’s no place for children. That’s the epitome of self-absorption to me. “I want to work, I want my children close to me; therefore, my children will come to work with me, regardless of how good it is for them.” Good for Kate.

I know Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany have really stuck to that one working/one not rule as well…I really respect this group of parents. It’s important for the kids to have one parent around.

But wouldn’t it be easier to pack them
the night before ? Also, since Mia is 6, that is the perfect age to start including her in the process, so that eventuallly she’ll be able to start packing her own lunch by the time she’s 8 or so.
