Gwyneth Paltrow wants to ask other celeb moms, 'How do you do this?'

by CBB correspondent Joyce:

After a few bit parts, Gwyneth Paltrow is returning to the big screen in a major role again – in the upcoming Iron Man – after taking three years off to devote to her family, and she wants to seek advice from some of Hollywood’s working moms on how to balance both.

I’m not going to work like I did before I had kids. I want to call Kate Winslet and say, ”Can you tell me how to do this?” Or call Cate Blanchett and ask her to describe [her day] from 7 a.m. on. But it’s not going to be back-to-back films.

Gwyneth, who has a supporting role in her brother Jake’s directorial/writing debut The Good Night, says she decided to resume her career six months ago. She says,

I reached a place in my life where I thought, ”It’s okay that I have a passion for something besides my family.” I love making films. If I do one thing that makes me fulfilled, then I’m a more interesting woman for my children. But it wasn’t like I was getting, you know, thousands of offers a week, when I was nine months’ pregnant or nursing babies, either. I also think I had projected, ”I’m out of the business. I live in London and I have my kids.” And yes, that is an aspect of who I am, but I’m also a person who’s very passionate about my art and film.

While she laments her family – which includes husband Chris Martin, 29, daughter Apple, 2 1/2 and son Moses, 10 months next week – will be separated once she begins filming, she says they will "try to make it work." Apple and Moses will join Gwyneth, 34, on set while Chris works on the next Coldplay album.

The Oscar winner also says she has no immediate plans for more children as she’s grateful to have one of each. Knocking on wood, she says,

They’re both healthy, thank God, and I don’t want to push it. I don’t think I would have more. You never know — but not anytime soon.

Gwyneth and Chris met backstage at a Coldplay concert in 2002 and have been married for three years.

I think its so great that she’s such a hands on mom and that her children are her first priority. She lucky that she has flexible job and she can do it every now and then at her leisure. She should never give up acting though!

I’m kind of confused by this. She has a nanny. Wouldn’t the nanny just be looking after the kids as per usual while Gwyn works? or is she implying she looks after the kids on her own 24/7.

It’s Odd sometimes because you think alot of Celebrities would totally pawn their kids off to nanny’s everyday! But GP really held it down. She is a Wonder Mom. And you can truly see that she’s willing to get only 3 hours of sleep, miss her freedom, and yes not have the time to shave. lol( I read that somewhere). She is willing to give everything up for Motherhood. I give her Props!

Personally, I’m glad she has not quit acting. She seems to take all of her roles, including motherhood, very seriously. But I think she understands unfortunately for women actors, their best years are also their child-bearing years and she is trying to balance the two. And I am sure Cate and Kate would be happy to speak with her. I hate the way the press has skewered her lately.

I never really liked Gwyn so I may be taking this the wrong way, but I’m getting the impression she’d like us to think that she doesn’t have any help in her day-to-day life. No assistants, no nannies, no housekeepers, nothing. She does it all herself. Does anyone actually believe that? I certainly don’t!

She’s trying to compare herself to a normal working mom, which she’s not. She should be thankful she’s in a position that she can have these people to help make her life easier, not pretend they don’t exist…

Luna. Im pretty sure if alot of working moms could have a Nanny… they would have a Nanny. Yes, Its possible she could have a Nanny hidden in the closet lol. But alot of times you see her by herself with her kids. And it’s not fair to say she is not like working moms because she is. Yes Celebs get paid a whole lot. But they have to be good. They spend months trying to get Millions. And I think months on a movie set is not always fun. She also said she wasn’t going back to the type of movies she use to do, she wants to be there for her kids. Im pretty sure any celeb who didn’t care if nanny was playing mommy while they made movie after movie. Would not make that sacrifice!
