Reality stars Rob and Amber see babies in the near future

Reality TV couple Rob Mariano, 31, and Amber Brkich, 28, have been busy with various reality shows since they’ve met and gotten hitched, but they still have parenthood on their minds. Rob and Amber told OK! Magazine that they constantly think about starting a family, and while they are not planning to have a baby right now, they think it is going to be very soon. Amber tells the magazine that waiting to start a family has made them even closer. She says, "I think it’s important when you get married to make your marriage as solid as possible before you introduce other family members."

The couple, who met on Survivor: All Stars, has appeared in various reality shows, including The Amazing Race and even had their own wedding turned into a TV special in April 2005. Rob and Amber can now be seen on their new Fox reality show, Rob and Amber: Against the Odds, which follows the couple as Rob strives to become a professional poker player.

We had our 5th wedding anniversary 1 month before our daughter was born.

My husband and I were only married for three months before we got pregnant. We wanted to have children so we decided to stop “not trying to have a baby.” I read that it takes the average woman in her 20s 6 months to 1 year to get pregnant. It took us two months. We were a bit surprised, but totally excited.

My husband and I had been together for 7 years before we got married so when we finally did it we decided why wait. We got married in mid-april and I was pregnant mid-may! Our son came 3 months before our first wedding anniversary, now three years later we are finally expecting baby number 2!

I got pregnant two weeks after our wedding! We decided to start trying when we got home from our honeymoon, but didn’t quite expect it to happen on the first try. Nothing but happiness about it though. Our second was also on the first try, when our daughter was 13 months old. Needless to say, we’re now doubling up on birth control when we’re not actively trying!

We got married young, at 22, so we were in no rush to have kids. Fortunately, we were able to wait a number of years and still be relatively young when we had our son. He was born right before our sixth wedding anniversary.

We were married for a month before deciding to start trying for a baby. We had no idea that it would happen on the first try, so we are expecting our first baby six weeks before our first anniversary. Since I’m 31 and he’s 36, age was a big issue for us because we’ll be first-time parents in our 30s.

We got pregnant the month after our wedding. Fine time to find out ‘oops your pills weren’t strong enough!’ I wouldn’t trade our daughter for the world though.

We got married in mid-September and I went off birth control in October. We conceived our child in November. It happened a lot faster than we expected (our doctor noted that it could take up to an entire year) but it’s a blessing nonetheless! =)

Our son was born exactly nine months after our wedding. We’d been together for seven years, living together for five and owned a house together for three so the wedding was just a formality. We set that as our date to start trying, and *POOF*. Who knew it would happen so quick?

My husband and I have been married for a little over two years. We’re both in our early to mid-30s so we decided to start trying sooner than we would have if we were still in our 20s. We’ve been working on it since August, but no luck yet.

I’m the same as a lot of other posters – our son arrived 9 months and 2 weeks after our wedding. I too had heard the ‘can take up to a year to conceive’ and so we just got started and it happened first time! Our 2nd is due in June – our plan was to start trying this month but actually we somehow conceived in Oct. We do feel very fortunate that it seems to happen so quickly as we have many friends for whom this isn’t the case, but will definitely be more careful after this one arrives!

My husband and I had the opposite experience from most of the other posters. We married young and intentionally waited thirteen years before having our first child. We really enjoyed experiencing the world as a couple, and then we were really ready when we finally did start a family. We have two great kids now.

I got married at 27 and had my first at 29.5. I agree with Amber that you should make your marriage strong before bringing children in the picture.
