Update January 5th: The Sun reports that Harvey wandered away from the family, climbed into a bathtub, and turned on the hot water, which ran as hot as 140* F. He burned the lower half of his right leg. According to the paper, "Harvey’s injuries were inadvertently made worse when he was found as his frantic rescuer tore off his trousers, taking skin with them."

He is still hospitalized.

About.com’s Pregnancy/Birth Guide Robin Elise Weiss tells us one of the easiest safety tips for baby proofing your home is to turn your water heaters back to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.  This can help prevent some burns, like what happened to Harvey. Though most parents don’t know about this safety tip or know how to turn their water heater back. Be sure to ask a professional for help while expecting to help ensure your baby’s safety.  For more safety tips, visit pregnancy.about.com.

Update January 3rd: The Mirror reports today that Harvey is now in stable condition but will not be released from the hospital for another week. It is still not known how the accident occured, but we now know the burn is on his leg.

Katie’s rep was contacted but only said, "Harvey is now in a stable condition, but that’s all I know. I haven’t spoken to Pete or Katie because they’re at the hospital with him constantly. They’re with him 24/7 and their phones are off. I don’t know how it happened, but I got a text from them to say that he’s in a stable condition. They are devastated but they are being strong for Harvey."

Last year, Harvey also suffered leg burns when he pulled a tablecloth off a table set out for tea.

Originally posted January 1st: Harvey Price, the 4 1/2 year old son of Brit star Katie ‘Jordan’ Price, was burned Sunday evening in an accident. Details are few at this time, but from what we know, the whole family was enjoying the day at home when the accident occurred, with Katie and her husband Peter Andre preparing to host a New Year’s Eve party that night.

There is no word on where Harvey, who is partially blind and suffers from a growth disorder, was burned or what he was burned with. He was transferred by ambulance to the hospital, where he is being treated in the specialist burn unit. Katie and Peter immediately cancelled the party and accompanied their son to the hospital, where they’ve been since. A friend says, "Katie’s worried sick. It looks like he’ll be in hospital for a while."

Katie and Peter also have a son Junior, 18 months, and Katie is about 13 weeks along with their third child.

OOOH….how sad! I hope he’s ok.

- Tasha on

I was thinking about Harvey this morning for some strange reason!?

This accident is really sad. They have been through so much with poor lil Harvey :-( I hope he is doing okay & is on the mend soon.

- Heavenly_hibiscus on

This poor family just cannot catch a break. I hope he’ll be okay.

- Punk_of_a_Tomboy on

i’m sorry to hear that this has happened. I wish them luck!

- Angie on

Poor little fella, like life hasnt been hard enough for him since the start :-(

I hope he gets better soon and it isnt very bad!!!

- Simone on

The poor kid, as if he dont have enough to cope with…lets just hope that this doesnt stress Katie (jordan) too much as she is pregnant…:(:(:(

- Jess on

The poor kid!!! I hope he gets better soon. Burns are sooo rough for anyone. Let alone a special needs child who can’t communicate the same way as most of us. Harvey is in my thoughts.

- tink1217 on

I have no experience with the blind but it is hard enough to keep a young child safe, you only take your eyes of them for one second and they are in trouble.

Must be very hard to keep an eye on Harvey, I am not 100% sure but I think he got burnt with a cup of tea a few years ago.

Maybe if the house was busy with people getting ready for the New Year’s Eve party Katie thought someone else was keeping an eye on him.

Very sad, I just hope he gets over this.

- Emma on

It must be so hard to keep watch on a blind toddler. I can barely keep up with my own baby and he can see where he’s going and what he’s doing. Poor thing! Katie is pregnant too, she must be beside herself.

- PSB on

i’m sorry to hear about their little boy. but i’ve been wondering. i don’t know who this woman is – and why do yall refer to her as katie “jordan” price????

- ashley on

That poor little guy!! Burns are so horrific. I cannot fathom their grief over this…. prayers to the family.

- Campbell on

The Mirror this morning is reporting that Harvey was burned on the leg, and also confirming that he was burned a while ago by pulling a cup of tea on himself. Still no news on how it happened though

- Michelle on

Her birth name is Katie Price, but she goes by the stage name of Jordan in England. She’s a pretty big star there, although not for anything notable. She’s kind of a pinup star, known for wearing incredibly skimpy (and I mean SKIMPY) outfits. Really, she’s just famous for being famous.

- Katie on

Katie Price is a very well known British glamour model. Professionally she goes by the name Jordan. She isn’t as known in the US…Harvey’s father is footballer Dwight Yorke, who since birth has never bothered with the child, and does not pay support towards him either, Jordan had said she wouldn’t want it either. Harvey is Blind as well as deaf.

- Fione on

I feel really bad for Katie and Peter. Keeping up with a little boy of good health is difficult enough, but to be a parent of a child with so many challenges has got to be nothing short of emotionally draining and exhausting.

- Lauren on

Yeah Fione is right about “Jordan.” I think back in the late 90s-early 2000s (ie. before her kids) she was more known for being ‘famous’ in the UK for being a model/party girl a’la Anna Nicole/Paris Hilton/etc. and her dear ol’ (supposedly) EE-’chest’ (dykwim?)…but now hopefully she’s calmed down since then.

That’s sad about Harvey getting burned like that, although I could understand how it could happen if they were getting ready for a party. Hopefully he’ll be able to get better soon.

I didn’t know Harvey was deaf as well as blind. Hopefully he won’t be too scarred by this latest incident as he learns to get around in his world with his physical challenges.

- Autumn on

Harvey is blind, but not deaf, Katie and Peter have don e a number of interviews here in the UK about how he understands when you talk to him, but sometimes pretends he doesn’t.
It must be very difficult for her at the moment, I can’t imagine having a disabled child in hospital, an active toddler AND being pregnant – she must be exhausted!
Hope Harvey gets well soon, I love this family, they always seem very close.

- Kirsty on

The papers this morning are reporting that Harvey was burned on the right leg after he climbed into a bath and turned on the hot tap at 60 degrees, apparently the burn was inadvertently made worse by the aide pulling his trousers off which took skin with them try The Mirror website or The Sun

- Michelle on

poor Harvey! I’m just wondering if he’s blind how was he able to make it to the bathtub and turn on the faucet? I hope he gets better soon.

- Lissette on

poor baby!!! that must have been so frightening! As a mother of a child with mental and physical challenges I totally understand. it is VERY easy for them to get away from you every now and then. Even a “normal” child can. I have had a few incicdents that have scared the crap out of me.

I hope Harvey gets better real soon. He is probably a loving and wonderful child!

- tink1217 on

You’d be surprised to see how much a blind child can do…

But damn, why do they have such hot water running in their system when they have children running around? If it was hot enough to boil his skin off!

- Hea on

wow…double standards much?

- ... on

it’s sad for the kid, but how did he climb into bath ? In my house kids can’t change water tempature its locks. And everyone should know when a kid is burn not taking off clothes

- cassopolis on

They have only recently moved to a new home, a much bigger one, so maybe they are still trying to get all the safety aspects of the house put in place still.

Glad little Harvey seems to be on the mend.

- Emma on

I don’t get how anyone could have water hot enough to burn running in their pipes. What use is that? It’s dangerous! Not only to children.

- Hea on

well, cassopolis, I never knew not to take off clothing if there is a burn. I am sure not everyone knows that. and in a panic you just don’t always think clearly.

kids have accidents. you can be a devoted watchful parent and your kid can still have an accident.

i am sure Jordan and Peter feel terrible about the whole thing.

- tink1217 on

Poor Harvey! He’s such a cutie pie! I wish him a very quick recovery. It’s so saddening (sp?) when something like this happens to such a young little boy – especially as Harvey has his disabilities.

I hope this doesn’t have to bad an affect on Katie. Stress isn’t good for the baby – especially after miscarrying so short a time ago.

All the best to Pete, Katie, Harvey and of course little Junior.

GET WELL SOON HARVEY! xxxx

- JJ on

Harvey is legally blind but Jordan has said in past interviews that he can actually see a little, so combined with touch I expect he wouldn’t have had much trouble climbing into a bath and turning the tap on, my cat can do both!
Poor kid, you’d think an aide who was responsible for children would have had at least basic first aid training and know NOT to rip clothing off a burn injury!

- Sabina on

My friend and her mum were at the hospital today for my friend to have an operation and her mum saw her, Harvey is doing better but Katie is really upset still, she hasnt slept in days she was saying.

- Sam on

the water was 60 degrees by the way

- Sam on

How awful. Poor Katie and Peter – I hope Harvey gets better!

- Aura on

Our water temperature used to be set too hot. We turned it down when we noticed that our daughter was able to turn the water on and off.

This is a good reminder for everyone to check the temperature that their water heater is set to!

60 degrees Celsius=140 degrees Fahrenheit

- Erica on

I forgot to mention that I hope that he is healing well, and will be home soon.

- Erica on

I assume thats 60 degrees celsius?? Or 14o degrees farenheit?? Wow! That really hot! Poor kid:(

- tink1217 on

Harvey being partially blind doesn’t necessarily make him disabled… my uncle is legally blind and he’s a mechanic, his parents just never treated him any differently than they treated the other kids and they refused to call it a disability. I also have a cousin with a growth disorder and she gets along perfectly fine. So saying that he is disabled or ‘special needs’ is just an assumption that could be very far from the truth.

- Smileyme on

Ouch. The rescuer pulling at his clothes and tearing skin away just sounds so painful and gruesome. Best of luck to Harvey! He seems to be such a tough little guy that I’m sure he’ll pull through this just fine. :)

He and his family will still be in my thoughts, though.

- FC on

Very hot water is normal in England homes. I have no idea why. It’s one of the things that surprised me when I moved here from the US.

- Nancy on

I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT KATIE IS A WONDERFUL MOTHER TO HARVEY AND EVEN THOUGH HE HAS HAD A FEW ACCIDENTS IM SURE THAT THEY WERE UNPREVENTABLE SOME PEOPLE CAN SAY SOME REALLY NASTY THINGS AND THEY HAVENT GOT A CLUE.I AM SO GLAD THAT HARVEY AT LEAST HAS A BIT OF SIGHT ,AND IM SURE THAT AS HE GETS OLDER HE WILL LEAD A HAPPY AND NORMAL LIFE AS ANYONE ELSE .HARVEY IS SUCH A BRAVE BOY HE DESERVES A MEDAL AND SO DOES KATIE BEST WISHES TO ALL THE FAMILY HOPE FROM NOW ON YOU HAVE LOTS OF GOOD LUCK
