Everyone Loves Raymond's Brad Garrett and kids

Everyone Loves Raymond actor Brad Garrett took his children, Maxwell, 8, and Hope, 7, to the 33rd Annual People’s Choice Awards yesterday in LA, where expectant dad Patrick Dempsey took home the favorite male television star award.  Brad and the children’s mother, Jill Diven, are divorced.

Do you like it when celebrities bring their children to events or do you think they should leave them at home, out of the spotlight?

I think they can do as they wish. I don’t think it’s hurting them. Many parents bring their kids to work for a day – why can’t actors do the same? Sure it’s putting them in the spotlight but if the parent is okay with it and so are the kids (and his children are little but not babies) then I think it’s fine. This is their parents life afterall.

I think it’s entirely up to the parents. If they have no problem with their children being in the spotlight, then it’s okay. If the children are asked about it and don’t want to be in the spotlight, then I don’t think the parents should force them. But I believe it’s up to the parents.

I personally love seeing celebrity kids in public, with or without their parents.

Brad seems like a wonderful dad–we spotted him with his 2 children on New Year’s Day in Malibu. I say to each his own. Let them do what they want to do!

I agree, I think it’s really up to the parents. I assume that if the kids didn’t want to go anymore, they would tell their parents; I hope that the parents would listen to them, too.

But hey, when I was little I probably would have loved to get dressed up and go out for a fancy night!

I second the opinion that Brad is a great dad. I’ve seen him so many times out with his kids. He’s attentive, caring and wonderful with them. You can see how devoted he is as a father. Hey, he could easily have pawned them off on some hired help for the night, but he chose to take them as his “dates”, and that’s a lot more then some celebrities have been seen doing lately. Kudos to you, Brad!

It’s no big deal, man…
