Dayna Devon welcomes a son

Dayna_devon_2Extra!‘s Dayna Devon, 36, and her husband, plastic surgeon Brent Moelleken, 46, welcomed their second child, son Cole Brent on Friday, January 5th. Cole joins big sister Emmi Reese, 16 months old.

Cole was delivered via c-section two weeks before his due date because Dayna had excessive amniotic fluid. Of her 8 pound, 2 ounce son, Dayna said, "Thank goodness I had a c-section delivery because this is not a baby, he’s a linebacker."  Had he gone two weeks more, he might have weighed as much as a pound more.

The baby had some fluid in his lungs and is supposed to go home today. Dayna said, "Brent and I are grateful he’s doing so well, even though the first couple days were stressful. His big sister Emmi doesn’t quite get it yet, but we are now going to be a happy family unit of four."

Unfortunately, this wasn’t Dayna’s first stressful birth – Emmi was born by emergency c-section in the middle of the night in September 2005.

Congrats to them! Glad to hear the baby is doing ok!

The “linebacker” comment cracked me up though- me, my sister, and my brother were 8lbs 10oz, 9lbs 14oz, and 9lbs 8oz at birth, respectively. Guess we’re a family of football players! We’ve all grown up into quite small adults though…go figure!

I chuckled at the linebacker comment, too! Our daughter was 8lbs, 9 oz. and lots of people thought she was small!! Guess they thought with a 6’4″ dad, she’d be bigger or something!

I’m so glad he’s healthy and doing well!

I really feel her pain, my sons were both induced about 2 and 1/2 weeks early and my first was 8 pounds 12 ounces and my second (my runt) was 8 pounds and 5 ounces. I’m not one to obsess about birthweight, 2 of my friends and I were all 6 pounds 11 ounces and 19 inches long at birth and now at 21 years old range from 4’10″ to 5’11″. My older son (19 months) BETTER keep on with that “football player” stature. He’s 37 pounds and 35 1/2 inches tall. YEEESH! (Dad’s 6’5)

Congrats to her and glad everythings well, thats not a fun thing to have gigantic chilren!!!

geez, a linebacker??? my son was 10lbs 2 oz! An 8lb’er would have been a piece of cake! LOL! Just kidding, I feel for anyone who has to have a csection. Especially in an emergency situation. Congrats to them!!! And, yes…I did have to have a csection with my 10 lb’er!!! AND with my 8lb’er too.

The linebacker comment is hilarious :-)

Congratulations to Dayna, Brent, and big sister Emmi! I’m glad to hear little Cole is doing well, and I love that his middle name is for Daddy. I wish them all the best!

10 pounds just seems killer, how can you even breathe?? :) i felt like i was going to explode with my first one. I didnt have c- sections and I also feel bad for those who do, Ive seen alot of pain and hard times with nursing, etc. follow them with my friends experiences

I love both her kids names! They just seem to sound really nice when theyre pronounced, especially Emmi Reese.

My two sons weighed 9 lbs., 8 oz. and 10 lbs., 8 oz. and they weren’t born via c-section. My two daughters were 7 lbs., 9 oz. and 8 lbs., 1 oz. so they weren’t that small either.

Congrats to Dayna! I must say, she barely looked 9 months pregnant to me on her show, so I’m surprised her baby was over 8lbs. My baby was nearly 9lbs, so I know how she feels – I ended up with a c-section too. That is such a small age difference between the kids, I hope she has a good babysitter/nanny/relative to help her out during the day.

Off topic – but I think there may be a little Hollywood “age-shaving” going on here. No way is she 36! (esp with a plastic surgeon husband!)

Oh puhleeze!
My baby was 12 pounds. 8 pounds is tiny! What a drama queen. Last year in the news a woman from England gave BIRTH (as in SHE birthed the baby) to a 15 pounder.

- littlemama on

8 lbs is not abnormal at 38 wks. I gave birth (no complications) to an 8 lb baby at 38 weeks myself, and didn’t for a minute think she was a linebacker! Lol!! People crack me up.

- JR on

I wouldn’t know what an 8lb baby looked like….mine were tiny(due to premature labor) my 1st 5 lbs 2 oz; 2nd 4 lbs 14 oz and MY RUNT was 4 lb 6 oz.

So her baby might seem like a line backer to her!

Also, it doesn’t state how long he was- maybe he was shorter in length so he appeared more like a linebacker.

Or I go with Tasha: maybe she just didn’t know what an eight pound baby looked like!
