Matt Lauer on his home life with new baby Thijs

Lauerfam_1Today show co-host Matt Lauer, 48, chatted with People magazine about his home life. He and wife Annette Roque have three children – Jack, 5 1/2, Romy, 3, and Thijs, 6 weeks. Here are the highlights:

- Matt explains why he looks so well-rested – he doesn’t have to get up in the middle of the night to feed the baby! "I’m not breast-feeding – my wife is. That makes it a little easier on me."

-When asked if he and his wife are planning any more children, Matt joked, "No, I’m pretty sure my wife’s not pregnant."

How do you pronounce Thijs?

Those kids are so cute. They look like Matt. I really hope his marriage is back on track and he’s being extra nice to his tired wife. Didn’t Annette file for divorce while she was pregnant, but he convinced her to stay?

Aleah, you say it as “Tice.”

PSB, yeah, if you click the source link he talks about it a little bit. They filed but then withdrew it and got pregnant again.

Jack & Romy are so cute! :-) I’m sure their little brother is, too.

Thijs is actually a dutch name. I live in Belgium and speak dutch. You pronounce it, like Sarah said, as “Tice”. The name is the shortened form of Matthijs or Matthias. The English equivalent of that name is Matthew.
I don’t know that many people with that name, but I think quite popular here. I think more baby’s in the Netherlands are called like that.
