Britney Spears and Kevin Federline agree on joint custody for month of January

Britkev_1 Though they both initially asked for sole custody of their two young sons, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have decided to share custody of the boys for the rest of January.  Kevin will be able to visit Sean Preston, 15 1/2 months, and Jayden James, 3 1/2 months, at Britney’s home for 12 hours a week between January 12-31 (just in case you were wondering, that’s Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12-4 pm).  The only people allowed during his visits will be Britney, Kevin, the boys’ nanny, Britney’s assistant and household staff (i.e. no friends or potential baby mamas).

Britney will be taking the boys to Miami from January 5-11.

No official arrangements have been made beyond January 31.

What a strange arrangement. He can’t take his kids to the park or a restaurant? I wonder why he has to visit them at her house with other people present? Seems like supervised visits are something you only do when one parent is violent or on drugs. I wonder if this is the case….if so, maybe Britney (rumored to be indulging in drugs) should have supervised visits too.

PS- I’m not a K-fed fan, just wondering what the deal is.

How sad Kori and Kaleb can’t visit their siblings. I had hoped Britney would realize they are an important part of her children’s life and encourage a close bond.

- Stephanie on

Huh. Interesting. I wonder why he can’t take the kids out or something? Does Britney not trust him wiht the kids? (I think he was a bad husband, but he seems to be an ok father). Weird.

PS. What happened to the Martina McBride post you had on here?

- Aura on

maybe it is to shield the kids from paparazzi during their visits so K-Fed can actually have a decent time with them. This in addition to the possible drugs involved supposedly(KFed is rumored to smoke pot, of course). Remember all the drug rumors whether its KFed or Brit are just that…rumors. Maybe Brit is worried KFed would try to keep the boys if she let him out of the house for visits. I know that was a HUGE concern with my ex husband, who did keep my daughter past his visitation time once and I was frantic. Could be many reasons.

The time seems a little strange to me. Most toddlers (and infants too) are napping during those hours….allowing him to spend less time with his children…and possibly more with Britney. Hope there won’t be a 3rd child on the way! because it appears they can’t take care of the two they have.

Aura,
The woman who took the photo asked us to take it down. The woman who sent it to us from the forum she posted it on did not have the picture-taker’s permission to take it and send it to us.

Why all the negative? We should be happy that they are trying to work out a visitation schedule in the best interest of the boys. It seemed in the past I read a few different places that Sean was very attached to Britney. Maybe this is to keep the children in there own comfort zones. I know my son who is Seans age won’t even leave for the store with my husband unless I am in tow also. The boys already have enough change right now that having them take off with Dad would be more of a shock on them at this time. It is said that nothing has been decided on past January. Maybe this is a trial run to see how things go. Britney and staff may not even hang around during the visit. They may be off doing work and Britney may be taking this time to nap or do whatever it is she enjoys doing at home by herself. Also nothing states that Kori and Kaleb can’t visit with Kevin. I would be shocked if Britney didn’t allow them based off how she was with the two of them. She doesn’t seem like she would just push them aside and forget about them. I think this is a great and positive start. Anything beats a custody battle!

Amy,
You have no clue to what the boys sleep schedule is. Any time frame at the boys age will somehow run into nap time.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that Jayden hasn’t been shown to the public yet and this may be a way to avoid any situations with the paparazzi. I can also see situations with the paparazzi taking full advantage of hounding Kevin out with the kids alone. It wouldn’t be fair for Kevin to only take Sean out and leave Jayden behind.

- jilliansmommy on

Uhh, how is this “joint custody”? Joint custody generally entails each parent having the child(ren) for half the time. I think this situation is bunk, and I don’t care how bad of a husband he was, he deserves to see his children, as does his other kids. I think she is being incredibly selfish. When you have children, you need to do what is best for the children, not what YOU want to see done. It is benefitting no one except Britney by keeping his kids away from him. They are becoming pawns in their sick and twisted games. The whole thing makes me sick.

I think people believe everything they read in the tabloids. A lot of times, what has been said in the tabloids about britney is serious exaggeration of what really happened. If you watch a lot of the papparazzi videos on the blogging sites, you will see how she is hounded by these guys, and the few times she is out with Sean, the paps go ape. But she gets blasted by some people for taking him out in public and exposing him to the paps, and put down by others for not spending any time with her kids.

In this case, with the custody agreement, it sounds completely normal for that age of kids. Little boys Seans age are very attatched to Mommy, and also can get upset in unfamiliar situations. My son always got upset if we left him at my parents in law for a few hours and eventually, we asked people to babysit him in our own home if we went out, an he was much happier.

In SOuth Africa, generally a father will get to have his kids every second weekend from a friday afternoon to sunday afternoon but if they are very young, sometimes it will only be day visits.

I just think it is hilarious they way that people bashed Kevin so much when Britney was still with him, and now that she is single, he is suddenly a model father, and brit is a terrible mother. We have seen him visit the kids only once at britneys house, and they have been separated for almost 3 months. The papparazzi are always following her so we would know if he had visited any more than that.

I think people should just remember that you shouldnt beleive everything you read.

I found this interesting, “… the boys’ nanny, Britney’s assistant and household staff …”

Hopefully FedEx gets time ALONE with his kids! When they spent with Kori they weren’t surrounded by a group of people. Surely a nanny & assistant are not necessary.

- Heavenly_Hibiscus on

This really isn’t that “out there”. Until they (or a judge) decide how to permantly work this out this arrangment seems fair- at least they are being somewhat resonable during the month of Jan. It could be worse.

- stacy on

It’s sad. No one appears to care about what’s best for the children. All that fighting and bickering, that’s not helping the boys. I’m happy that Kevin Federline has appeared to WANT to be in his sons’ lives. Too many divorced fathers don’t, so I have to give Kevin credit.

- J. on

Tracey – I don’t think ANYBODY is suggesting Kevin is a model father. I think that given Britney’s antics lately, Kevin is starting to look less wild in comparison. either way – they both seem to love their kids and both of them should have visitation rights. Unless Kevin is physically abusive or doing drugs (who knows?) he deserves a little alone time without staff present IMO.

I think Jilliansmommy hit the nail on the head with the Jayden photos, unfortunately. Not to be too cynical, but I think Britney is waiting to release them along with her first single – in a PR blitz. She probably doesn’t want Kevin selling them before she does (which he definitely would), so she keeps his visits supervised at her home, so she can monitor his photography. It’s really sad when your kids become currency.

- PSB on

OK…what is up with what sounds like supervised visits?? It’s not like he’s molested them, abused them or anything. Why? They ARE his kids too and as long as he hasn’t done anything to them, why the supervision with every person there watching him. Strange and what a schedule for just January.

- Doreen on

I would hope sooner or later someone would intervene with these two and let them know how much harm they are potentially doing to their children. Granted, these boys are so young ~ but so are their parents who obviously don’t have a clue on parenting at times. I often wonder who is taking care of these boys when their parents are out partying, or whatever.

Let’s hope they can work it out, for those kids!

- Rachael on

I’m not saying this is a bad thing in any way, but like someone else pointed out, I wouldn’t consider this joint custody. More like Britney has custody and Kevin gets visitation rights.

- Diana on

I just hope that the person or persons raising these two little boys is/are decent, kind, attentive, and loving. These little fellas really need stable caring attention in their lives.

- Campbell on

no future baby mamas… classy…

- Yonni on

I think everyone is being pretty harsh. Having been threw a major custody battle, its nice to see two people who have worked some sort of something out without letting it drag on and on. We don’t know the circumstances. Maybe this is something they both agreed to to save the kids from the media. It would be easier for Kevin to go there being that the kids are still small and seeing that he was away a lot maybe the kids aren’t as comfertable being alone with him just yet. Not meaning hes a bad dad at all! We can’t just assume that becuase he is at her house, that it means she is being selfish or he had done something wrong. This way is probably best all around. Don’t judge unless you know.

- Juliets on

I think a good visitation solution would be for Kevin to have the kids while Brittney is out partying with Paris every other weekend. I’m sure Kevin did his fair share of partying while Britt was pregnet- so now it should be time for the tables to be turned.
